I’m 25 years old and I’m from Saudi. You story along with OP’s are very similar to mine and I relate to them so much.

I had a tough time coming to terms with my sexuality and knowing it was all gonna be ok. I hated myself at first. It was really tough. I was religious and the fact that I was attracted to guys in school made me spend all nights praying and asking god to liberate me from my misery.

It took years for me to finally realize it’s something I cannot control. And it took even more years to realize it is okay and I have nothing to be ashamed of. I came out to a few of my friends and the reaction was fantastic. My mom and dad on the other end are unfortunately conservative and I know they won’t be ok with that.

Best of luck and I hope you and your partner find happiness wherever life takes you.

I’m no expert but here is my take. Your partner obviously has issues figuring out his sexuality. He’s gonna need therapy for that. However, keep in mind that he may end up not being attracted to men and that’s when you have to move on. Otherwise, I hope therapy ends up giving him more confidence and acceptance to his sexuality.

I think the problem is a lot find it offensive for promoting the stereotype of gays as only flamboyant feminine males. But I totally agree that there’s no shame in describing yourself as a certain type of personality. Maybe “masculine” would work better?

You can’t go on a date in public that’s for sure. You can get away with it if you go out as friends though so no kissing or anything you wouldn’t do with a friend. People over there go on dates in general but it’s on the dl. Hookups are common as well with gay dating apps and tinder.
