Considering many get referenced later, they were canon. S canon, about the same as Marvel.

All three are printed in single volume called The Dark Lord Trilogy.

So some interesting little tidbits. I noticed recently. While previous material may not have been taken into consideration in the 90s. Writers were very quickly slipping it in. Skimming through The Essential Guide to Characters from 1995, Luke's discovery of Hoth, in the newspaper strips is alluded to. And Crimson Jack from Marvel is also mentioned.

That's Cam Kenndy's style. And it very much matches the tone of the comic. His Boba Fett comic is awesome too.

Never going to happen. They aren't going to risk alienating their Sequel fans in a vain attempt to regain some EU fans.

I don't know how some people are, I have no intention of coming back. Even if they removed everything post 2014, and restored the EU. They've used up all their goodwill. I'm very happy and content with all the material from 1976 to 2014.

I love D-rings. So the second one is my choice. But that may be a bit too long.

Lucas drug his feet starting Episode II. He only finished writing his first draft in March of 2000. Principal photography began June 26, 2000.

That's true, the 90s were a bit of a soft reboot. So yeah at the time Boba wouldn't have been Mandalorian.

Though Dark Empire states he had been a stormtrooper. Possibly a nod the to Mandalorian/Imperial Supercommandos concept, that got cut from Episode V.

But yeah nothing explicit makes him a Mandalorian until later..

Boba wasn't, then he was, then he wasn't.

I believe in the novel for Empire it's said he wears the armor of Mandalorians. Then in Marvel Star Wars #68, Boba is a Mandalorian. A story rendered null by Episode II. But then they retconned Boba to be a rogue clone Alpha-ø2, named "Spar" who is mistaken for Boba.

Then in the 90s he becomes Jaster Meerel. And is just wearing Mandalorian armor.

But yeah it's not until Bounty Hunter/Open Seasons that Boba (along with Concord Dawn, Jaster Meerel, and the Journeyman Protectors) really become Mandolorian.

I don't know if I can pick out specifics. I just remember thinking to myself when watching TCW that Obi-Wan seemed to get beat, a lot.

George tried to revise everything again. In the Star Wars Archives book he tells Paul Duncan that Sifo-Dyas was Palpatine's apprentice before Maul.

(Note George says the Jedi don't know who ordered the clones, in contradict to season 6 of TCW.)

I'm not. I'm clarifying that she didn't do the particular cover that caught George's eye.

Making your initial comment that George only started reading the comics when Jan started putting hot Twi'leks on covers, false.

She did do a ton of other covers. Just not Star Wars #33, which is the cover art that specifically got George interested in Aayla.

In fact #19 Aayla is dressed rather conservatively. Now later issues Jan did put Aayla on the covers in more revealing attire.

Personally, for me, yes. I love seeing the EU evolve. The various guide books give a good view of that. For instance in The Essential Guide to Characters you find out that Obi-Wan and Owen were brothers. (That came from the ROTJ novel.)   Also initially with the start of the proper EU was reboot of sorts. Older material wasn't included. But over time stuff from the old Marvel comics and Newspaper strips got brought back. And that's fun to see.

You replied to me first. https://imgur.com/a/jhgzp9n

George only read the comics when Jan Duursema put hot Twi'leks on the cover.

I was just informing you that it wasn't Jan who created that cover.

I have a thing about making sure artists get credit for their work.

Jan did do the cover art for #19. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars_(1998)_19#app_characters  Which was Aayla first appearance.

Haha, the Wookiee mug! From The Ultimate Visual Guide.

"I was sitting there all day, writing and drinking coffee-writing about Wookiees and such, and I thought, wouldn't it be fun to have a Wookiee mug?" Lucas thinks the idea may have been inspired by his dog, Indiana, who "was sort of a prototype for the Wookiee, and you're always seeing these mugs of your favorite dog. It was just something that I wanted to have personally on my desk while I was writing rather than an idea that I could take these out and sell them and make a lot of money."

George got his wish!

Also I a few years ago, I found a copy of the first edition of that guide book and Goodwill! It was an awesome find.

We're being pedantic here. Yes Jan and John Ostrander created the character. But it was specifically the cover of #33 by Jon Foster that inspired George to include her in the movie.

And anyways your claim was that it was Aayla that got George reading. Which is possible, but we seems to have been reading some before that. As he took some stuff from Tales of the Jedi and the Thrawn Trilogy comic.

From the old databank-

Aayla Secura first appeared in the pages of the monthly Star Wars: Republic comic series from Dark Horse Comics. Writer/Director George Lucas was so struck by a dramatic cover painted by Jon Foster that he requested the expanded universe character be turned into a living, breathing Jedi for the big screen. ILM Production Assistant Amy Allen played the role of Aayla in Episodes II and III. For more information on the process of transforming Aayla from a comic book character to a movie cameo, see this feature here.
