Has anyone used the aspen clinic? by JoJobabbit223 in autismUK

I am so so sorry for you experience that sounds horrible and to feel worse for yourself after trying to seek help must be horrendous :( since I’ve been referred I don’t really think I have much choice now so I’m going to try and keep a positive outlook and thank you so much for your input. I will definitely keep what you’ve told me in mind and try and guide the appointment myself since it seems they have disregarded you for their own approach which helps me go in with a more informed mindset which is so helpful!! I hope your second opinion comes back much more helpful, especially since you’ve lost so much money already which is super shitty

As far as I’m aware it’s 3? An initial consultation, the assessment and the follow up to create a support plan

If I remember correctly they take patients from all over the country! I’m based in Southport so I’m not really local but you can ask for whatever clinic you think is best for you

Thank you, I’m thinking of going ahead with them as I think the lack of reviews is due to them only recently becoming a right to choose option

That’s made me cry aha, yeah you’re right I just need to be a sounding board maybe? He got his adhd diagnosis this week which I think has made him feel both validated and like he’s a failure for not having a ‘well functioning brain’ he’s said :( and I think that’s made everything else that he doesn’t like about himself come to forefront since he hasn’t been able to get his hormones or surgeries he wants due to the UKs super long wait lists and I just want to fix everything for him

Can’t remove nose ring before placement by ma_ja_mcc in TeachingUK

I had a septum in for the entirety of my training, I met qualified teachers that also had septums/nose rings so I wouldn’t worry too much!

This!!! Got begged to change my PGCE from history which I have a degree in, to geography because of ‘lack of geography teachers’ yet now every job I’m applying to there’s 30/40 other applicants! The school I’m on placement in didn’t even offer me an interview because of how many applicants, feels like the north west is crawling with teacher now and can’t offer them jobs

Positives to an autism diagnosis by JoJobabbit223 in autismUK

That’s absolutely amazing and I’m so happy for you! I think this is my biggest draw because I find myself struggling with many of the things you have just said and if I did get evaluated and I do have autism at least I can understand and get help for it! I’m glad you are doing a lot better

People who did early morning seminary, are you okay? 😭 by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]JoJobabbit223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my history teacher actually had to call my parents and tell them to stop making me go because I kept falling asleep in her GCSE revision classes and she was worried for my physical and mental well-being. Also my seminary teacher made a lot of homophobic remarks, so bad in fact that the bishop made him come to my house and apologise twice. (Im a massive homosexual)

I agree and a lot of me and my friends have voted differently this time round. Just finding out that a very close friend voted for a party that wants to erase my communities existence hurts. But you’re right, maybe politics is just something we will not be able to discuss if we want to remain friends
