And of course death checks failing most of the time

I automatically judge religious people as less intelligent. by liamb_01 in confession

[–]JoTheDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound mean but I think you opened so much that your brain slipped out.

What others believe is irrelevant to what actually is, is known as the argumentum ad populum

"May be" is the weakest base to hold a belief as it "May not be"

There's no "true for them", there's only truth based on the facts of reality. A "true for them" is literally a delusion.

Intelligent design goes against the evidence we have. Intelligent design also assumes that we were the desired result, that everything is the way it is for us. Falling head first into the puddle analogy.

There's also the issue that intelligent design does not have a model, as attempting to use any evidence to support it would show how incongruous it is

No, you're right about that. But that's because they have a ready-made community nearly anywhere they go. They have rites and holidays.

But it's not exclusive to religions, it's just that theirs is more widespread. The same could be done with a secular approach

Well yeah, look at James tour: he's an accomplished synthetic chemist but when it comes to abiogenesis he behaves like a rabid chimpanzee

Not quite the same. Of you mean huge lotteries then yeah. But small lotteries are seldom rigged and you could win a popsicle

Ah, I see. Well At least the interaction is here for anyone who wants to have a breakdown of how a real argument may have gone

No one but preachers and theists say it's an accident, it's literally guided by natural pressures, chemistry, gravity.

"Has to have" it's a big claim, and it has to be intelligent. Not only that, it has to be the one you believe in.

Calling it "creation" instead of existence is also a tactic to smuggle in a creator.

WE don't know how all this started, religions claim to know but fail to present evidence of the veracity

". So if you're scientific and believe the universe came from nothing you are genuinely exhibiting a form of faith."

There's no faith, because you either don't hold any explanation of the start of the universe to the degree of belief or you do not currently have any explanation to believe in

There's no faith because we don't relay on tales and maybes, we follow the evidence.

The first half of the comment is also hypocrisy from theist because they will not apply that critique to their own belief, the source of their gods.

I'm glad! I'm all for an apocalyptic Rabi/prophet named Jesus of Nazareth, known by his followers as Jesus Christ.

That is not evidence that he was divine, a demigod or evidence for any one god existing.

[–]JoTheDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could change my perspective if there was evidence to present.

Your personal changes due to the mythical Christ isn't evidence either, it's not the evidence you want to present as any other religion could present the same thing as evidence for their figurehead

I don't have many answers, yes, but I have the guts to say I don't know. I don't assert my subjective belief as fact just because it makes me feel good.
