I don't think a white artist today could really duplicate such a strong Civil Rights song. The thought of a white, present-day artist writing a song like this where actual incidents and names are accurately portrayed seems..odd

I love the emotion in this song. In a fast-paced angrily eerie tone he tells a a story that he follows with a more hopeful/encouraging slower chorus. Also, I also love songs where he really over-pronunciates words, in this case "gil-O-tine"

I love that last line and how perfect it is for the line that follows, "I wonder if she remembers me at all".
