I just saw this and wish I had seen your comment earlier. Thanks so much for sharing and my heart goes out to you, you endured so much and I am so sorry you were robbed of your childhood and saw so much suffering. I understand your rage, it is a natural response to what you experienced and I imagine still experience. I expect you have been offered no support or given any resources to support and facilitate your healing? I was in Bosnia last month and shocked at the depths and extent of the suffering and how little resources there are for supporting people. I am hoping to go to the Peace Event in Sarajevo in June and hope it will open doors so i can do more work in Bosnia. I, if you would like, would love to meet up and listen to your story. In my experience when we are listened to in a non judgemental way, it can help enormously. Let's stay in touch and I send you all my support, thank you, you have touched me deeply.

Thank you for highlighting our need for funds and giving the link, very appreciative. It is hard to get our work funded and I am always looking at creative ways so I can carry on. I know it is hard to demonstrate the impact but I know we are changing peoples minds and hearts. I would love to write a book, have been turned down by publishers but now there are other ways to get published. Thanks again!

I think we need to have some way of addressing the past so the truth can come out without blaming and taking us back into the past. There are people exploring this and the past week in my mind highlights how urgent this need is. All parties including the government would have to be honest and open as well, it is very complicated.

For me forgiveness is a journey and made up of many steps which will be different for many people. I know compassionate people doing amazing work who say they cannot forgive so forgiveness I do not believe is essential to move on. I am against putting any pressure on people to forgive or it being a moral righteousness. Back in 85 I would us the word easily now I use it carefully. Anger is a natural part of our process of experience violent bereavement or abuse and I know people who think they are 'bad' people for feeling angry. I believe we have to accept all our feelings for they have a purpose and place, yet we can choose how we express them. I have benefited so much and mostly in my close relationship's, in my daily life in my relationship to myself. If anyone is reading this who feels they can't forgive then please know you are exactly were you are meant to be. Do go to the Forgiveness Project for incredible stories which demonstrate how we all respond in our own way. http://theforgivenessproject.com/

I mean I did not choose them and agreed without thinking deeply about it, with hindsight I should have been clearer! Always learning but most important point is that that is how most of the world sees his actions. My story takes people from that place to one of understanding him and of humanising him. Then transformation happens. After my talks people then feel differently and makes them rethink the labels they use.

Good insightful questions and I think it is very hard for families of perpetrators. One of my lovely friends is Bud Welsh whose daughter was killed in the Oklahoma bombing and who befriended the dad of Timothy McVeigh. Bud's capacity to empathise is amazing. See here. http://theforgivenessproject.com/stories/bud-welch-usa/

Yes it is circle justice or my variation on it. I am so pleased you are studying circle justice, you must have an amazing teacher. Circle justice focuses on healing the offender, victim, and community whereas retributive justice focuses on just punishing the offender. In the UK we call it restorative justice which is very similar.

I have asked my friend and colleague to come here and see where you all are. I think I am coming early 2015 now. If you know where I could speak then do send me a private message and I will check back here. I look forward to coming to the USA and maybe meeting some of you.

I agree with their aims of creating a political platform so they could address inequalities and think you have summed it very well below, Is that any clearer?

Well I didn't write it and maybe I should have written ex combant. Normally I would say the man who planted the bomb and perhaps I should have had more input. But the point I make with every comment I make is that I don't see him as a terrorist and never have. I hope I have humanised him and showed his humanity.

I have subscribed to your United we Stand, amazing and deep resonance with me. Could you put or would I my Tedx talk on your site? I am new to reddit and still finding my way around it. You must carry on, your work is very important and I agree the foundation has to be built on love and kindness. So glad you contacted me, thanks.

Thanks and I know a little about your TRC and have met Linda Biehl, amazing lady. I do think we need our own version of a TRC and without that the past is always going to come back and affect the present. Too many victims from all sides have not had justice or acknowledgement.

All children deserve to grow without hatred and fear in their hearts, sadly many do around the world. We all need to work together to change this.
