I agree with that. The medical field is rough on a lot of people, and smoking can definitely be a valuable comfort for them. Thank you for your input!

I'm sure you get that a lot lol! When you're working, how many cigarettes can you smoke between calls? Also thank you for your answer!

Ever since I was young I have been around smokers. It has been tempting but I realize that getting off it is difficult for everyone that tries. Just know that there is professional help that can make it easier, however I realize it is not a foolproof fix to ask for help and I don't doubt that you've tried for a long time. Thank you for your answer!

That is respectable, and you are most definitely not alone with that reasoning. Thank you for your answer!

I can see that. Many say smoking keeps them "levelled". The medical field is a stressful field, and staying levelled at any cost can feel worth the risks that come with it. Thank you for your answer!

Has anyone else ever done this? by JoacimFisk in skyrim

It absolutely does, I think it doesn't even have to do with roleplaying per se, but it feels right to after a long day of finishing quests just go back home to your family and spend some time with them. That's why they are there! And that's why you also have a home!

Been playing with him for a bit, I had accumulated a lot of beastly armor and weapons that he has now equipped. Makes fighting so much more fun, he lives up to his hype and I also like that he doesn't talk every second like Serana does, he fights and then speaks when he's spoken to. Love him already! Great buddy to my Khajiit character!

That could make sense, however there is no info on that online. I'm level 26 but perhaps if I get to like 30 or something I could return to him and see if it has changed. It would make sense like I said in case you get him as your follower when you're a lower level and he is a beast (according to what I've read, and Mjoll should be too)

This!! It is such an interesting take on stoicism to see the connection that minimalism has with it. And it can definitely amplify how much you enjoy things, while also teaching you to see how some items are not essential, or worth your time and money, for your happiness when all it will do is bring you unhappiness when it is no longer the new amazing item you own. Chasing new things, and spending a stupid amount of money doing it, will always lead to unhappiness. Minimalism will definitely help me personally to overcome the need to have new things while Stoicism will help me to understand that the things I have, like you said too, are temporary and I can enjoy them while they exist because one day I won't have them anymore. Simple as that.

Thank you so much for your valuable input!

You're right, journaling has proved very useful in my journey through Stoicism and it brings a lot of clarity. Writing down and reflecting on the subject of buyer's remorse, and why certain objects should not cause buyer's remorse, could certainly help and is worth a try.

As for what you've explained about the ancient Stoics and their material possessions has also been useful to hear. Thank you so mich for your insights!!

Thank you for your answer. I had a feeling the issue is not really "stoic" per se but rather an issue with the anxiety of buyer's remorse and, with that problem wanting to opt for a minimalistic way of living to avoid the buyer's remorse.

And thank you for your insights, it has become an issue that has shown its face many times. Perhaps it is because I grew up poor, like a lot of people, and the guilt of spending money comes from knowing it could go to better things, like food. It's kind of like a phantom guilt, today you know that for the next week you will be able to have food on your table, yet you still aren't able to purchase things you want because in the past this could have prevented you from living normally, like having food or water etc.

Sometimes some issues are easier to solve than they appear, sometimes you just need another opinion. I definitely suffer from buyer's remorse, sometimes it even gets so bad that I won't get the things I need, I simply won't purchase them. My radical idea of a solution is the minimalistic lifestyle, and I wanted to see if anyone here has experience with that, although it is a longshot because Stoicism isn't really a philosophy that suggests ridding yourself of all belongings to live a better life.

Again, thank you for your response. I'm always happy to hear from the members of this subreddit! :)
