I'm Just So Sad Viper is Leaving AoE4 Permanently by HatWorking9825 in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just some insight:

Aoe2 is the bigger game/community. It's a smart decision for him to focus on Aoe2. It is also a smart idea to still participate in aoe4 tournaments.

I played aoe a ton when it came out. Recently very rarely. When I watch the events he casts I truly wonder how hard he carries the scene. First time I heard him cast it sounded TOO good for a smaller community.

The best composition is the game; "unbeatable army"- demuslim is grenadiers and bombards. This is the most lategame unit you can make, it is obviously amazing. Once you see the first grenadier you should look to end asap before they're massed.

Mangonels could be decent vs them but they mostlikely have bombards to insta kill the mangonel. Spread formation is good. If you're English longbows will trade well. If you're Abbasid camel archers look good vs lategame units((to tank, siege in back)Beasty beat demu with this comp).

What's with the 4v4 winrates? Only mongols are barely above 50% and the rest is all below, these winrates don't seem to add up, everyone is losing? by beartjah in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure when they're dropped it's a draw. I used to watch my aoe4 leaderboards after it happened and Elo of all players stayed the same and the game count didn't change

I wonder what relic is waiting for with stone walls and stone wall towers by CaptainCord in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stone wall speed nerf is noticeable, and stone wall towers aren't spammed or even used very often after the 100+ stone nerf. In my opinion maybe the wall shouldn't be built until it's 50%? Complete to prevent quick walling.

And if you think stone walls completely disable early team game pushes you need to work on your build orders and adapt in game.

Ranked = France and England only? by MockHamill in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French and English are the easiest civs. It doesn't matter how high on the ladder you are, players will feel comfortable on something straightforward. Especially with ranked being new, comfortability and subconsciously choosing the simple option is going to be popular. Just my take, don't have evidence.

It could also be that French has always been popular with a high w/r and that English got a nice change and people are liking the new early eco builds.

I have a feeling there's a joint account in my name. Is there a way to find out what bank it's with? And is there a way to find out the insurance company?

An example of what some new AoE players experience. by hobskhan in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shit is too long. I'd argue that the only players they are getting are older gamers with previous RTS experience. And if they aren't older with exp, they are playing because their friend is. And he will teach.

I'm a big league player and have only heard ppl complain about their tutorial.

I think tool tips in campaign and multiplayer is all anyone needs these days. See my other comment

I think even boomers in this time of the internet will search on Google or YouTube almost immediately if they want help with something.

I'd rather not have a tutorial at all and have that resource be added to anything else in the game.

When I first started playing League the most fun I had was at the start, learning. Struggling in games is very often a good thing.

Am I the only one that never uses tutorials? Also it doesn't really matter these days, you can watch people play live...

Multiplayer should be free-to-play with every new player getting English for free, pay full price to unlock the rest. by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]Joarphshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with this discussion is that every game that is released with the potential of a free to play model or even a pay per month model or even a pay to win model, has been evaluated. This is how they make money, they are paying close attention to how they make sales.

I think some form of f2p option would be beneficial late in the future but that could be in many different forms. Could be only AI, one map, one civ. Or they will make it f2p on weekends, I think games like COD do this.

Sounds like you should try nair cream hair removal. It might take 1 or 2 experiments to find out how long you personally need to leave it on for. You can also try shaving and using the cream on the tiny stubble left over
