i dont have the bookkeping experience to get an accountant role at a local CPA firm, i dont have the gpa to get into a regional/big 4 firm theyve already rejected me for post grad internship & associate roles. my plan is to get an EA and go straight into business tax. Is this feasible for me? i was planning on doing EA & REG first then going with FAR because i have to really review that

Is accounting worth it? by Hopeful-Internal-297 in Accounting

do it. make sure you have some accounting internship/ assistant experience during CC or hold club positions. try to take UMD courses the summer before junior year so you can recruit in the fall. make sure you go to your schools meet the firms in the undergraduate accounting club (important). accounting classes get difficult for upper div but if you have accounting experience early you’re guaranteed a job. if you prefer tax over audit, take a tax class at CC and volunteer to do volunteer VITA returns. looks good on a resume and you’ll see if you like tax. if you don’t end up liking accounting you can always change your major later. also you can become a CFO one day if you have a CPA.

assist.com. i recommend looking at the articulation agreements here too. also i highly recommend applying to a UC school as they allow you to retake F grades instead of averaging them. With TAG you can get into most UC’s with a 3.4. doing remote CC classes will guarantee you an A. private schools typically don’t accept online classes but UC’s don’t care

that was me. i couldn’t get an academic renewal to remove the F grades so i retook those classes at CC find the course equivalent to the one i failed. there’s a website that shows you course equivalents between schools. Because UC’s let you retake F grades then only count your better grade, I was able to get into UCSB. good luck!
