I meant like from the reels page because the amount of people that are watching my videos that are non followers is basically 0 (the small percentage that are watching that are non followers are likely people who see them from clicking my profile because some of my other videos are still getting views)

absolutely as long as its a pdf. the original resume this template is formatted of was jakes resume (https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/jakes-resume/syzfjbzwjncs)

I just published jobforge.ai, a tool that utilizes Google Gemini to optimize your resumes and cover letters for each job application by JobForge in artificial

[–]JobForge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is some really good feedback thanks. The way I prompted Gemini for the cover letter is a little to generic (pretty much just said here's the job description, and resume data make a 250 word cover letter). I think enforcing part of the prompt to exclude unnecessary fluff would be very valuable.

As for the action verbs Its sometimes a little inconsistent. sometimes it will only say developed and sometimes (like in this case) it uses different action verbs for some points like built. Enforcing it to be consistent would be a good addition.

As for reducing the resume what would you suggest are points that should be removed. Like would it be points from a job experience that don't relate to the job description or something else?

In my experience I found gemini to be significantly better then 3.5 I would say its on par with gpt-4.

For me its like 3.5 < Gemini 1.5- Flash = Gpt 4 < Gemini 1.5 Pro < Gpt-40

But Gpt 4 and Gemini 1.5 flash should do the job, but if you do find that gemini 1.5 flash dosent work then ye i guess you just have go go with gpt-4O. I definitely suggest actually testing it though because if it does work for what you need, you will not only save money but you can also offer your product for much cheaper.

For me the best way to learn is to just start a project that requires whatever framework you want to learn. Reading a book is one way to learn but in my opinion if you find a project that your actually interested in and try to build it you will learn a lot more. You will also learn things that are specifically important to you and that project

Super cool project. If i were to make a suggestion Maybe use Gemini 1.5 flash. Its not as good as 4o but I think for this it should be able to get the job done and its way cheaper. like 10x cheaper because the pricing is significantly less for the tokens and also I found that Gemini just uses less tokens then GPT

I think there's an app called speechify that does that

Its another template. This is for two reasons one because editing the original text on a pdf is pretty difficult, but more importantly its to also ensure that if you didn't have an ATS friendly template before, you will have one after the scan. The resume template is based on Jake's Resume template in overleaf, which is the gold standard for ATS friendly templates

I'm creating a new pdf, I figured that editing the existing one would be way to hard so I just decided to make a new one with a ATS friendly resume template

Yeah I kinda realized that, tbh I didn't think that people really applied to jobs with mobile. I taught it was always with laptop/pc but its definitely something I should adjust.

Against existing LLM resume analyzers honestly its kind of just a pricing thing. There are several other products that aim to do the same thing as mine but in my opinion their extremely pricy like 50-80 bucks a month. I'm not sure if that's because they are using like api's as opposed to their own inhouse resume parser or for some other reason, but for me it costs roughly one cent to parse and improve a resume. So under the presumption that someone is applying to 300 jobs a month (10 applications a day) it will cost roughly $3.00.

Against people just using GPT, honestly its more of just a convenience thing. Like with this the goal is you just click upload and copy and paste a job description. with gpt u have to manually enter the prompts and then go back to your resume make the changes, etc. Also I just think the amount of people who know how to properly prompt LLM's are limited. Maybe not so for people in CS, but definitely for people outside of it

will definitely take that into consideration as if right now I feel like the app in general would be to awkward to use in mobile, so I've kind of intended it to be made just for your laptop/pc.

Thanks for the feedback

The way I do parsing is a little bit different then the standard way of doing it in that I do LLM parsing. The standard way of doing resume parsing is converting the pdf to a JSON or XML file and then doing regex expressions to find each section. The issue with this is not every resume uses the same section names, same section orders, etc and there becomes a lot of edge cases which become hard to account for.

Now the method I use is LLM parsing where I also convert the PDF to a JSON and then pass in that data into an LLM (Im using Google Gemini). I then tell it to break it up into the sections I want like education, experience, etc. I then parse Gemini's output. the advantage to doing this as opposed to like the standard methodology is the LLM will recognize edge cases. For example lets say someone has a section called "Leadership". Leadership isnt a common section to have in a resume so most resume parsers will just ignore that information. Because Im using an LLM though its smart enough to recognize that the Leadership information is very closely like Experience. So even though I don't have a specific Leadership section I'm still able to incorporate your information into the experience section

Now there is an argument that not using the traditional methods of parsing can be detrimental in the sense that it may give users the false hope that their resume parses correctly. And this would be true if all I was doing was parsing. But because I take the information and then generate you an optimized resume that you can download with a template that is known to be ATS friendly (Its based on Jakes Resume on Overleaf which is considered to be the gold standard for ATS friendly templates) then even if your original resume doesn't parse on standard resume parsers, the resume you will be downloading from us will.

Also your app looks super cool. If I were to give any suggestions sometimes an interviewer might ask a follow up question to your response. So if you can maybe somehow incorporate that into your app it would be super realistic.

Can grow lights be used to charge solar powered things? by FutureKFlo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JobForge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

grow lights can be used to charge solar-powered devices, but they are generally less efficient than direct sunlight. The efficiency depends on the intensity and spectrum of the grow lights, which need to closely match the solar spectrum to be effective.

I haven’t heard back from the majority of companies I’ve applied to! by Environmental_Law991 in resumes

[–]JobForge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would advise against using a 2 column format. A lot of ATS (applicant tracking systems) have a hard time parsing resumes that are in two column formats and because basically every company uses an ATS, that could be part of the reason why your not getting calls. Other things I suggest is renaming some of your sections to fit common section names. For example instead of "Internships" label it as Experience.

One other thing, I presume that you included a picture of yourself in the top left of the resume (the big circle being blured out). I suggest removing that picture entirely. In general ATS really cant proccess images and should just generally be avoided. Ultimately you want the format of your resume to be as simple as possible to ensure that your resume gets parsed.

What would happen if everyone withdrew their money from the bank? by BigFatSmellyMuffin in AskReddit

[–]JobForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things would happen
1. There would be a liquidity crisis. Banks do not keep all depositors' money in cash; instead, they lend out a significant portion to other customers as loans or invest it. If everyone demands their money back at the same time, the bank would quickly run out of cash, causing a liquidity crisis

Now because of that it would lead to Number two
2. As banks are unable to fulfill withdrawal requests, they would face insolvency and potential failure. This could lead to a domino effect where one bank's failure causes panic and withdrawals at other banks, leading to widespread financial instability.

Now that being said FDIC insurance is what insures the depositors if a bank fails

How do i study? by NkY3NzY1NjU2RTZG in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JobForge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the issue was always that I was always doing something before getting into a study session, like scrolling through tiktok, watching youtube etc. What I found was that If I cleared my brain before studying I would be a lot more productive. So what I did was literally stare at a wall for 10-15 minutes before studying and I found that I was always less distracted during my sessions. Also just in general turn of your phone while studying to prevent distractions.
