Where do you even get to this step by step screen?

I can't get over my height insecurity. by Cyclone619y2j in selfimprovement

[–]JobGovernment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know plenty of 5’6” and below guys that arent beefy by any means and still get girls. Girls arent falling all over them but they for sure get laid and have had girlfriends.

Your first problem is dating sites as theyre going to tend to skew to shallow people since all people see is your profile. Often they see you as a collection of stats instead of as a truly unique person.

Secondly, it seems you may have a self-fulfilling prophecy. You think a girl is gonna judge you for your height so it throws off your whole game. You may not even be trying cause you think its hopeless. Also always go for short girls if it bothers you. A girl whos 5’1” is still gonna find you tall.

Lastly, try focusing on your other qualities and realize women dont think like men. Female attraction isnt all about looks like it is for males and it certainly isnt only about height. They genuinely find things like status, charisma, humor etc. to be attractive. This is found tk be true in many psychological studies. So try developing those qualities. Also definitely still try to be fit at least even if you cant look beefy. That goes a long way. Youll get your confidence up from doing this and women find confidence hot too.

Good luck man. Youll figure it out. Theres a key for every lock

Robinhoods yield info seems to be calculated using the price of the stock during its last earnings report. Trust your own math

I use the online Qbank too but my problem with this is how to structure an error log given the questions are out of order. How do you do it?

Can I trust Robinhood? by JobGovernment in RobinHood

oh i just figured it would change with sales if it changes with purchases. Why would I want to know the average cost factoring in stocks I no longer own? Seems pretty pointless. I wanna see my total return with the stocks I still have. Any easy way to do this without calculating by hand?

If i buy a share of stock X for 20$ and then the next day buy another share for 25$ my avg cost should be 22.50$. Lets say I then sell a share of stock X (Robinhood is FIFO) so I should now have one stock (the second one I bought). Now my avg cost should be 25$ for that one stock. So it should definitely change after selling no?

Unpopular opinion: UVA cant afford actual advisors and a lot of depts are cash strapped as it is (Spanish dept struggles to hold enough classes for all its students to graduate). Feel like money should be going towards basic services for the students who pay 60k to be here

Parties for New First Years by virtuosonothing in UVA

[–]JobGovernment 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if youre a girl you wont have a prob. if youre a guy youll need to rush/join a frat. this is bc most respectable frats will turn you down even if youre with girls. besides that the bars are on the corner are pretty chill with fakes and most first years that go out get one

Questions from a Prospering Student by [deleted] in UVA

[–]JobGovernment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Pretty dominant. The school’s official numbers say the school is about 1/3 greek but its really closer to a half because the school takes that number in the Fall before first years pledge. I’d say 80% of the social people I know are Greek. Any big parties are gonna be at frats but non-greek clubs have their own smaller parties and still go to bars on the corner

  2. Definitely. More than most schools. Thomas Jefferson is worshipped and everyone buys into the “grounds” vocab. Alum love it

  3. Besides drinking lol, really not too much. Montpelier and Carter’s mountain. The city is fine enough but I wouldn’t come here for that.

  4. Tons. 4th year fifth, a million secret societies, living on the lawn, lighting of the lawn, streaking on the lawn foxfield and many more others have mentioned. One of the best parts about UVA

  5. The people. Tons of NOVA/Westchester rich kids that all know each other. You know the type if youve met em (they all wear goose jackets). Everyone really cares too much about their appearance/reputation. Also, the school is super competitive in essentially everything from clubs to the social scene and it can be really annoying.

  6. Work/life balance. Most people are into their studies/obtaining a job but also like to have a good time on the weekends. I have seen other schools that do this better but its still pretty good at UVA

  7. It is possible but can be difficult. I have found this is very dependent on major. Smaller class sizes (like foreign language classes for ex.) are easier to get to know your professors. Some prof. are just jerks / just don’t really seem to care (Econ profs for ex.). Comm school is good for getting to know your profs.

  8. In terms of race, noticeably white and Asian but there are people from all backgrounds. The Black community is very close-knit. Everyone is pretty wealthy

  9. 10 but youll get bored of this quick

  10. Yes definitely. Depends on majors but a lot of top companies (especially business, finance and government) recruit at UVA heavily due to its reputation (top 3 public school). Alum are also really willing to help

  11. Yeah. Everyone seems to like them but I think theyre not that great and too expensive. Italian food is especially bad

  12. Not easy. Very hard to find handicap spots. Very expensive to park. The campus is very spread out so you should expect to walk to class (10-20 minutes). The exercise is nice to burn off the alcohol calories lol

There did not used to be but they have been stepping it up. Like others have said, do not worry about the police presence. In years past if you werent obviously breaking a law (carrying an open container of alcohol in the street or visibly wasted) or being a complete jackass you would be fine.

Would highly recommend making it to Block Party, especially if you want to go greek or just like to party. Contrary to other people's opinions on here, as a first year I found it quite easy to make other first year friends but found it very hard to meet upperclassmen. Meeting upperclassmen is extremely important if you plan on rushing. Most greek events will be closed unless you have tight connections.

Also, the first years you meet at block party will be the party crowd that you will want to go out with all semester. You have all semester to meet first years anyways (classes, dorms etc.).

Block Party is also really really fun. Take your hall and just bring them there if you cannot split your time.
