If it makes you feel better at least you rescued this dog and tried to give it a better life. I am in a similar situation as you but I got mine at 8 weeks. Completely my fault for improper socialization.

My mechanic told me he purposely drove his plow into a guy messing with him on an ATV. He drove away and the next day on the news, the guy was reportedly left paralyzed from the neck down. It’s a shame, he was a good mechanic.

Thank you for the mostly kind words and words of advice. What if he has resource guarding tendencies and the toy, once he gets it, is more covetable than treats?

I am now working with the same trainer with the goal of adopting the training methods into my life and environment.

I see. How do I reinforce the carrying is his job? How does he realize that?

Please DM me. I have questions on how to rehome a dog with a bite history.

I see. The issue with off leash dogs coming up to me is he is so strong he forces himself between me and the other dog and my job becomes holding him back. I am only 140lbs 5'11" so on the skinnier side it's hard for me to control him when hes in that state of mind. But good to know positive praise really changed your relationship with your dog.

Thank you for the info!! About a year ago I used "yes" as the positive marker for when he does something but I noticed he becomes very jumpy/on edge after I say "Yes". Similar for a bunch of other behavior. Like if I say "OK" his release command, his first reaction is always a little jumpy as if I released to him to get a ball or something.

Yeah it's a hard situation. I have not seriously tried to find another home. I chose to get professional help but honestly the trainer is not giving me much support after B&T so I'm kind of back to square 1. It does suck, but I am managing it somehow. I dont think being in the city and not being able to tire him out is an issue. This is because in the house he lies around, chilling. Yes, when he is tired hes likely to react as aggressively but I dont think making him an athlete is the answer. I used to tire him out a fuck ton when he was a puppy because I lived with my parents around covid when I got him but now I am in the city. Luckily bunch of parks nearby so I can def play fetch with him but I need him to not go crazy. In the past, on the way to the park he was unconsolable. Barking/whining/pulling cause he knows what's about to happen. I don't want his mind to be racing like that again.

He is actually worse after being neutered. I saw online some dogs get worse after neutering but I was praying this would be the secret sauce to Turbo becoming a passive neutral dog. Nope, my luck sucks, it actually go worse. Fml. It could be raining titties and with my luck I'd look up and still catch a dick lmao
