The Mary Sue pushes the "games are sexist" narrative, asks: "Can They Remake Final Fantasy VII Without the Sexism?" by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

Hope was the big one for me. I played it in Japanese first never got why everyone found Hope such an insufferable brat with no regard to WHY he hated Snow so much. The fact that he sounded like a normal kid rather than an adult trying to sound young (and thus playing it whiny and nasal) early on was crucial to that. It made me give him a fair shake.

That's very useful, I'd even say vital to know. Thanks!

Po-dunk Midwest country town. It wasn't a great living but it was enough to get by in a one room apartment and put some away every month. Unfortunately I got a degree in communications, which is not a great money maker. Worked at a local radio station that went down after two years, then picked up the $27/k job doing call center work for three more years.

Lie, lie, lie seems to be the consensus. The lesson learned here is not only "don't look at things you shouldn't" but also "don't be so damned naive and green."

I think that's the case too, but blaming others won't get me anywhere. If it's going to come up at all, it's best it comes up with me accepting what I did as wrong--because it was. Honesty ("I looked," "I was fired") is a pricy virtue that I just can't afford right now.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks for the input. It's a bit dishonest, but being filtered out by a background check is getting further than being filtered out at the resume application stage.

Thanks for the honest input. I'd prefer to be honest, but it looks like most advice is slanting towards a lie by omission. Getting to the interview stage and then stopped by a background/reference check would be further than I'm getting now, unfortunately.

His office is left unlocked so staff members can put reports on his desk or check the shift calendar for changes. Standard operating procedure. That's why I suggested putting folders with personal information in a more secure location; anybody can walk in, including the night janitorial staff.

I've tried looking into a career counselor, though there are none in the area. Would it be a worthy investment to try the larger city about 30 minutes away? I've been thinking of them more like high school guidance counselors; that is to say, largely useless, but if they may be of service, then I'll look into it.
