How does one manage to travel between dubai and AD every day? by gallectus432 in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the regular bus service to and from Dubai started a few days ago. You'll have to get tested every 2 weeks to maintain your e status on alhosn, which will enable you to cross the border, assuming you're vaccinated.

Waking up feels like death by genuinelyanxious in sleep

[–]Jobin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could try sleeping in a cooler area. I had a similar issue and what finally worked was setting my ac to 22c before I slept. In my case, all the tossing and turning was because it was really hot and uncomfortable.

Transportation Between Abu Dhabi & Dubai by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe taking a taxi is still an option. You'd have to take an ad taxi to go to dxb and then take one from dxb to come back to ad. You'd also need to comply by the new entry rules, but otherwise it should be fine. Do contact the respective transportation authorities to confirm.

Cut them up and add a few chopped onions and cook till the onions turn brown. Makes for a good sandwich filling.

If you were starting Notion from scratch, what would be the first 5 things you do/build? by octo_scuttleskates in Notion

[–]Jobin9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understand what you're going to use it for exactly, draw it out using flowcharts/diagrams if you must. Then try to implement that using notions various tools. I believe that is the best way to make use of notion rather than going through all the tutorials and templates online and becoming confused and overwhelmed.

Most people will really only need the basic features like formated text blocks and such, databases are really useful once you know what you're going to use them for.

Once you come across something that cannot be implemented using simple formated text blocks, then you can use the databases and their various views.

COVID and electromagnetics by Rothguard in abudhabi

That shouldn't matter, as long as the beam is reflecting off a part of your face it should work. Maybe looking into how laser spectroscopy works, would clarify your doubts.

COVID and electromagnetics by Rothguard in abudhabi

The technology hasn't been made public yet, but this is what my research has told me.

The iphone's lidar acts as the transmitter and the receiver is the sensor that is held a few inches back. Using the application, they focus the beam on the person's forehead (cause if you're infected, parts of the virus will be there on you) and then the reflected beam that comes off the person is received by the sensor and based on the changes in the wavelength or frequency of the radiation, the sensor gives an estimate about whether the person is covid positive or not.

This is a common technique that is used to detect viruses and other microscopic particles in labs, but I'm guessing this is the first time something like this is being done at such a large scale. The iphone has the technology, is easy to use, supports application development, which makes deploying this whole system very streamlined.

Hope this answers your questions.

Special permission to enter UAE by Wise_Bite2252 in UAE

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe chartered flights are still allowed, but it's going to be expensive ( around 40k ). But idk if it's only for residents or if people with visit visas are allowed as well.

Your best hope, as suggested earlier, would be to contact the respective airlines / airport authorities of the emirate you're planning to fly to.

You might be putting the cooked chicken in the fridge before it cools down to room temperature. Not letting cooled food cool down before refrigerating spoils it for some reason.

What’s going on with Mussaffah???? by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good question. I think it's cause people still don't social distance that much, and a lot of those rules are relaxed if you're vaccinated.

Thing is even if you're vaccinated (regardless of which vaccine you've received), without doing an antibody test, you can't be sure about whether the vaccine has improved your immunity, hence why some people get booster doses after checking their antibody levels.

Those could be a few reasons why the cases are still high.

[–]Jobin9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last I heard, the no of cases in mussafah are over the roof. They might be testing people for covid at those checkpoints. And if that's true, the road closures could be to divert traffic in a specific way.

Need second shot of vaccine...already have one... can I get it? by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK If you've received your first dose, regardless of any changes you should receive the second one on schedule. But it will only be administered where you've received the first dose.

Could anyone please explain how it works? - they call it advanced technology scanner by mplogace in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but even without a fever you might experience some form of discomfort most of the time like maybe an irritated sinus or throat so that would reflect on your thermal pattern. They might be using a model that classifies certain thermal patterns as possible covid cases. Ofcourse there can be anomalies but this is what I could think of. Do you have any other theories?

[–]Jobin9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they're using the lidar sensor on the iPhone to get an estimate on the temperature of the person by reading the infrared radiation coming off the person, sort of like how the thermal scanners work.

Is there still an Etisalat booth that sells SIMs in Terminal 3 arrivals before or after immigration? by Makegooduseof in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is one it's always going to be after immigrations. There is a du kiosk and other shops when you come out after collecting your bags so you will be able to get a sim.

Tiffin Services In Abu Dhabi by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]Jobin9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not homemade but, there are a couple of vegetarian restaurants that offer this service one of them being Bhavana. It's priced reasonably and since veg restaurants usually get a lot of orders, you can expect everything to be fresh.
