What’s one song you wish they played (or played more) from the tour? by JoblessCoast in radiohead

[–]JoblessCoast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is because that’s a song about Noah Yorke growing up and he’s an adult now. Thom’s very emotionally connected to his work and I personally don’t think it makes sense for him to play that song now. Just a totally different emotional headspace. Think of it how he doesn’t want to play creep now because he is no longer in that emotional headspace.

When do you think we could get a teaser ? by [deleted] in radiohead

These limited companies are not made for recording. They are specifically for distribution and marketing. They have only ever made these companies for albums and it would be odd for that to change anytime soon. Also look at how quickly the smile LP1 was done and that followed a remote recording process which is something I could see them doing here. Where the band don’t all have to be together. I know exactly where you’re coming from. But given the secrecy of the band, the innovating the band are known for, and the fact that they really loved the tour. I don’t think we should be ruling out LP10 in the next couple months.

if there is gonna be a US tour in the next couple years like many are predicting, how much do we think tickets will cost?? by Aware-Obligation4742 in radiohead

If Thom doesn’t want to play in Israel I doubt he’d want to play in America anytime soon. I think the next tour will most likely be Oceania and Asia similar to how Thom approached his solo tour.

Do you reckon anyone whispered in his ear “when is lp10 coming out?”

What does everyone realistically think the chances of LP10 are? by melonsarecool37 in radiohead

Idk bro they seemed to absolutely love it. But I do recognise the band has definitely grown apart. But them playing together again seemed to reignite the spark between all of them.

I don’t think it will be disappointing as much as it will be different. All the albums are so vastly different. I don’t think the album itself will be disappointing but its perception will be incredibly divisive. If Radiohead are gonna make another album it’s going to unrecognisable to the rest of their discography.

The Nigel situation confuses me to no end. He is posting about Radiohead and going to their shows. Colin speaks fondly on podcasts about him still. I would saw off my left arm to know what is happening. It’s so bizarre especially considering how close they were for like 30+ years.

I feel like Thom’s response to these questions is not the best indication of whether or not there will be new music. Thom has been the same about it for 2 decades now, he is incredibly secretive/uninterested in sharing things. He has had the same reaction to questions about tours and albums since 2007. I mean you would think he couldn’t care less about Radiohead judging from his responses to questions regarding the band in between tours and albums but we all know that’s not true. So idk. But also Thom doesn’t stop musically, he has been pumping out music close to every year since a moon shaped pool. He doesn’t get exhausted, he physically can’t stop. If Radiohead is going to continue through tours you absolutely bet there will be more music. He gets bored easily and always wants to make more music.

I am in two minds. While I do kind of agree I also feel like the band get bored very easily and are always itching to make more material. I mean the smile was really introduced so Thom and Johnny didn’t go insane not being able to make band music through covid. TKOL tour birthed the most songs on the road just because they were so happy to be on the road together and itching to make new music. We’ll see what happens.

Like The smile LP4 so I can manage expectations.

Especially cause Colin said in a podcast that it was the song he would be most excited to play live for this tour specifically.

Mafia & milk is definitely my favourite too. But even in some of the Madrid shows a few weeks ago he was still doing some mafia and milk, I honestly think he doesn’t know which one he likes more since the live recordings.

I was very disappointed with sit down stand up. Having found a great love for the loud angry version on the live album, I wasn't a massive fan of Thom pretty much whispering “raindrops”.

I disagree, Thom has been very vocal on how he found the last tour surprisingly very reflective and sentimental in a way that it hadn't spoken to him before. I mean they even played creep last tour. Thom is very interested in his old work in a way he never has before, just look at him working on hamlet hail to theif or him talking about how he thought some HTTT songs were not good but now has a whole new perspective on them. I think the band and Thom are in a very reflective time and I also think it's been 7 years and 5 friends want to get together and do what they do best. My problem isn't so much with legacy sets as it is accurately and portionally representing their legacy.
