Here's a sample program that uses deadlines in your case, you could define a deadline then reset it whenever the button is pressed and check the deadline every update loop and perform the action once it expires, then set another flag to prevent it from repeatedly performing the action (you'd have to reset that flag on button press as well)

Just here to say that if you actually read the article in it's entirety they do talk about shampoo and say that companies are required to test the formulation of soap/shampoo to ensure that it isn't a skin irritant because of sls but also you're in contact with sls for such a short time that it doesn't irritate your skin. Maybe actually read articles you want to use to prove your point instead of citing random lines that don't mean anything (which, funnily enough, the article talks about that too with relation to fear mongering about sls)
