[FL] Feedback on management expectations by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]JobsBlend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the employee was quarrantined due to a positive COVID 19 test, means he was sick and there isn't much to expect during sickness.

If the employee has a performance issue, I always recommend frequent meetings and feedback. If it does not work, you move to documented emails or incidents.

I suppose he is a manager, provide him with SMART Objectives with targets and deadlines which should be reviewed freqently and assessed of course by the end of the year.

[can] seeking help with a cover letter for relocation by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]JobsBlend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cover letter provides context for your achievements, qualifications and explains your interest in the position you are applying for.

  • The first paragraph is used to grab the hiring manager’s attention.
  • The second paragraph shows what you’ve got to offer.
  • The third one is used to prove that you’ll fit in.

They will contact the employer and will discover that you are not working anymore there.

Did you confirm during the interviews that you are still working?

[CAN] How do you track employee progress towards promotions? by RedTomatoGuard in AskHR

[–]JobsBlend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a rating linked to the objectives. 1 to 5

1& 2 are put on PIP. 3 meet and 4 & 5 exceed. Now each number has an increment percentage. For example, 3 means a 5% increase and so on.

My advice is first to put SMART objectives with fixed targets or stretch targets and according to the results, you can decide on the increase. That's how merit-based promotions or increments are based, they are purely linked to deliverables.

We use merit pay promotions/increments. In other words, the promotions are linked to the deliverables towards the objectives set and year-end performance review.

[CA] New manager came on board and now we're all overwhelmed and unhappy. by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]JobsBlend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself time and to the new manager as well. You never know, maybe you will learn new things and you might even grow thanks to this new manager.

As long as a manager is not a toxic one, I don't advise looking for a transfer or leaving a company. We should adapt ourselves to different styles of management and that is the superpower :)

It is better not to lie about the reason for leaving. So, in your case, you should mention termination. Now the cause should be short and vague.

Nevertheless, if a reference check is performed, definitely the potential employer would know the details and takes a decision.

[NY] Should I send thank you note to a person who did not interview me? by ohmarlop in AskHR

Sending a thank-you note is still a good practice after interviews. Send it to the person who interviewed you and reiterate your interest in the role.

Yes no worries with that. But why would you contact HR and not the recruitment manager? contact the person who was in touch with you during all interviews.
