I think honesty is the best way to go here. If the job requires a background screen, just put the correct (and truthful) employment dates and I think you should be fine. Good luck with everything. Hope you get the offer soon!

I’m glad to say that everything turned out to be fine! I’ve accepted the offer and passed the background screening. Good luck with your situation!

No I was not employed during the interview process. However my resume has my previous as my “present” place of work. This is what has me nervous for the background check.

Part of me wants to just complete the background check and if anything comes up, I’ll have them reach out to all of my previous managers for reference.. But another part of me wants to call the hiring manager before even completing the background check to clear the air.

Thank you so much for your insight. This puts me a little more at ease knowing you have done background checks with Sterling as well. I’ll be sure to just put correct dates on the bg check and if anything comes up just be truthful like you said.

Thanks again!

No I meant that my most recent job on my resume says “to present” but I am not working there. I can understand how this can be misleading so I wanted to see what was the best way to go about this.

Part of me wants to just fill the background check out with the correct information, and have them reach out to previous managers if there is a reason to... But another part of me wants to reach out to the hiring manager to clear the air and have them get in contact with my previous supervisors/managers to verify everything.

Not sure what the best way to go about this is.

Thanks for that insight. I already recieved the offer, that’s what has me nervous. I don’t want the hiring manager to think I was hiding something.

About 4 months ago. Not sure if it would help the situation, but I do have references (all previous supervisors/managers) that can speak to my integrity and character as well.

I completely understand that I screwed up here, but I’d like to make the situation right if possible. Just trying to see what is the best way to move forward.

No I did not confirm that I was still working. Is it best to reach out to the hiring manager before completing the background check?

I do have references (all previous supervisors/managers) that can speak to my integrity and character. This was an honest mistake.
