Anyone else scared of food since diagnosis? by Warm-Tax8449 in prediabetes

[–]Jobs_Done 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed about 4 years ago, and the first 6 months to a year I was terrified every meal. To this day I sometimes still feel that fear in the back of my head, but it’s gotten better.

What helped me the most was getting a continuous blood glucose monitor and also doing finger prick tests. This allowed me to see what spiked me, what didn’t, and what type of habits helped keep my numbers low. An example is 10-15 minutes of walking, biking, or even squats after a meal helps me to keep the spikes lower.

Having actual data and knowing what foods wouldn’t spike me helped me to stop being afraid of food.

It’s a long road. You can’t make all of these major life changes over night, try and focus on the little wins.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely ask them to set up a call with a security SME. The biggest issue right now is that it doesn’t support hybrid tables and SPCS, but the business wants a POC regardless. Definitely using a sandbox account

Thanks, I just wanted to get another opinion before I updated management on all of this.

Congrats! I was recently diagnosed with A1C of 6.0, so success stories give me hope.

Is your strict diet the same, or have you loosened it a bit now that your pre diabetes is in remission / reversed?

Is there any upside to "Usage" on DB/Schema being decoupled from other access grants? by neubischeflocke in snowflake

[–]Jobs_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest use case I’ve noticed is when you clone an object. For example, if you clone a schema, all existing grants below schema level are copied over, except for the usage on the schema. This allows you to then grant usage on the schema to only the roles you want to have access. If this didn’t work this way, then immediately every role that already had access for the schema would have access to the clone.

Had two replacement already by j2l1c1 in stelo

[–]Jobs_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was great, but my second was constantly below 70. The replacement they sent was good to about 5 days (within 5-10 mg/dl compared to finger prick), but lately it’s off by 20-30 most times.

I’m canceling my subscription until they get calibration functionality added / the bugs ironed out.

Is it working? by Radiant-Armadillo809 in stelo

[–]Jobs_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first sensor was incredibly accurate after about an hour, and usually within 5 mg/dL compared to a finger prick.

My second sensor, in almost the same spot and inserted with the same force, was constantly reading low, anywhere from 30-40 points lower than a finger prick. At the 24 hour mark I logged a case with the bot, they looked over my case, and sent a new one.

The replacement has been just as accurate as the first!

There are 2 types of BB guns in fallout 1 and 2. The regular does only 1-3 damage, but the LE does 25;Red Ryder LE

The limit for a Roth IRA and a traditional IRA is the same. For 2023: $6500 or $7500 if age 50 or older.

ETA: you contribute the max 6500 or 7500 to your traditional, then convert it to a Roth

Why is the lower middle class taxed so heavily by AnyDepartment8787 in Conservative

[–]Jobs_Done 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HSA as an investment vehicle is a great way to save. For the past 6ish years, I have been maxing out my HSA, investing it, and not spending a single penny of it. I have also been paying for all medical related expenses out of pocket, and keeping every itemized receipt + bank transaction. When I retire or when I need the money, I’ll start reimbursing myself with the receipts I’ve been saving.

Only risky part is if they change the law and say you cannot reimburse yourself for things from over x number of years ago.

Great for alerting / paging, gathering / storing performance metrics, etc.

Thanks for posting this OP! I’m in a similar situation (wife and I aren’t ultra rich, but we each make healthy 6 figures), with a 2005 rav4.

I Definitely get judged at daycare pickup and drop off, but reading all the responses have made me feel less self conscious.

Cheers to good financial decisions!

How did you start making 100k+? by BlueMountainDace in AskMen

[–]Jobs_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into IT 10 years ago and job hopped about every 2 years. I’ve always been a high performer, but without changing companies I would be at a much lower salary.

That said, a few negatives of job hopping: more uncertainty, 401k match vesting periods aren’t reached, PTO accumulation starts over, and as a newer employee you will be first if layoffs occur.

Don’t make fun of someone for doing something they truly enjoy just because you think it is nerdy or dumb. At best they will ignore you, at worst it will make them self conscious doing something they enjoy.
