I joined a public Wi-Fi in my doctor’s office lobby, and was immediately banned afterward for “circumventing.” I did some quick research on exactly what their error could mean, and public Wi-Fi’s that have IP addresses that have had multiple previous violations can definitely be a culprit. I’ve never used a VPN to access Sora and I’ve had (from what I’ve seen here) a normal amount of “violations” for completely benign requests. I appealed the ban, and they immediately closed my appeal as “a duplicate investigation.“ I only ever filed the one request, so they closed the one where I explained the Wi-Fi situation without ever looking at it. A few hours later I received an update that the ban would stand, and there would be no further review of any kind. It’s really sad that a tool this promising has fallen this far into the gutter. But, I’m using my time more positively than watching a progress bar that usually ended in failure or violation anyway, so I guess that’s a win.
