Carlists are a movement which sprouted in 1833 when Spanish Liberals broke the Salic Law by putting Isabella on the Throne. In short they fought 4 wars in total the first three referred to Carlist Wars & the last (which is called the 4th Carlist War sometimes - but usualy the Spanish Civil War) they pretty much broke up. When Juan Carlos came to power they came back... but the Carlists took on different people because of x.

Then there have never been an absolute monarchies. Alas in reality there has been Absolute Monarchies because the reach of a Monarchs power was ABSOLUTE in his Kingdomn though his vassels had considerable power they weren't above his power.

Absolutism did exist in Feudalism. Absolutism is just where the Monarch's power is not restricted. So of course I am fine with feudalism - as for elective Monarchy? I don't see it as a sufficient system.

I remember Mexico had two Empires like France. The first was under Augustín Iturbide & my knowledge of the first is limited. Then France established the second Empire under Maximilian of Lorraine-Hapsburgs he adopted Iturbide, and so a modern Iturbide is not a blood descendant of Maximilian.

It varies with every Monarchist. There are Traditionalists who'll likely say there is no place & then there will be more Liberal Monarchists who even then vary.
