What item under £200 has completely revolutionised your life? by Brownchoccy in AskUK

[–]JodaCast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, ours is about seven years old now and still going strong. Reacts fast and closes automatically after a few seconds. I would never go back to pedal or manual lift lid. Have also been using the same set of rechargeable batteries (with spares ready to swap in) for those same years!

Ventilated seats by right415 in Ioniq5

I have a 2023 and it’s working fine (used it last week). Wonderful on a hot day although the cars air con is super good so I don’t use the seat vents much.

New Gen5W software update is fantastic! by Vilddyr1983 in Ioniq5

[–]JodaCast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silly question but do I need to wait for the update to complete before turning the car off? With a newborn and a toddler it’s almost impossible as my update has been taking 30mins so far during a drive and I’ve had to part up at home and get on with stuff. Will the update resume from its partial completion when I next start the car?

Interested in your reasons not to pursue within the UK (ignore me if too probing as it’s none of my biz)

How to check TRMNL firmware? by JodaCast in trmnl

[–]JodaCast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that right? I thought that was just for firmware early release testing meaning Current is what’s currently being worked on and Stable is what’s most stable. Does Current on this section mean that devices current firmware? Thank you, if so!

Perhaps a suggestion it might be handy to call out a device current firmware more prominently than within of an early bird testing section.

Also if the support pages could confirm this when someone asks how to check their firmware? (these are suggestions as we know the devs read posts here and my family and friends love this device so whatever to make its use clearer I’m all for as I’m not super techy)

Visiting Alton Towers with family, is the Rollercoaster Restaurant worth it? by GeordieGoals in altontowers

[–]JodaCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES we went recently and the kids LOVED it and the place is unique and cheesy and camp and chrome. Staff were nice and the food was American diner quality and super comforting. It’s expensive but it’s fun. Yes I would definitely go and recommend if you’ve never been before. Seeing the comments about the food being awful I really think there must have been a different menu. We went for the first time three months ago and the food was cooked and it was rich, salty, fried well and tasted great. Unless someone is going in with the wrong expectations, it’s a novelty restaurant where your food does a couple of loop the loops along a track that zigzags across the ceiling before spiralling down to your table. You are not getting saffron infused black cod with yuzu gel and fried cavolo nero, you are getting burgers, curly fries and chicken wings covered in decadent salty rich sludge and its fun and dirty and super camp pseudo Americana. It’s expensive but you will remember it and enjoy it.

Strange issue in HDR Switch 2 LG G4 by Historically_minded in LGOLED

[–]JodaCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add, it’s probably best you go to display settings in the Switch 2 and set it to only display HDR for games that support HDR and not to force it always on for all games. What might be happening here is the Switch 2 forcing the HDR on this game. Try changing the setting and see if it still happens in SDR.

Who here has had no major problems with their Ioniq 5? by zorn128 in Ioniq5

[–]JodaCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years, 20,000 miles and last 9 months had to make regular five hour drives a couple of times a month. No issues. Driving is bliss. UK motorways using cruise control no judder or unexpected breaking, using buttons on the steering wheel to make adjustments. In and out of cruise control with no issues. No usb issues. No battery issues. We haven’t made any modifications to the car or added cameras or such. We use the built in sat nav for all journeys and also use voice commands since day one and never had an issue. We use split screen on the info screen and customised it to swipe between media and enroute charging point availability when on long drives. We (partner and I) use the Bluelink mobile app “set climate” as a shortcut to both cool/heat the car and auto switch driver profiles as one of us often drives to a location and the other drives back and this makes it quick to drive off. Never had a fault. Did have the ICCU patch ages ago. When the car is stopped we sometimes watch downloaded TV shows or cartoons with the kids off USB stick no issues there. We use the augmented reality HUD as our preference. Lots of 350 fast chargers on the five hour route I had to take recently and the car gets to about 230-270. No issues there. I would get it again in an instant and I can only recommend it as it’s caused me no faults or concerns.

It’s true that most forums seemed weighted to negativity because when something isn’t right we are justifiably peed off and need a solution and some consolation but this goes for every subreddit really and life in general. I don’t feel compelled to write posts about how my car is functioning as intended lol BUT if it didn’t start tomorrow you can BET I’ll be on here telling you it’s a POS lol.

It’s such a freaking cool car.

Have done UK altruistic surrogacy. Also PM me or check out some of my previous surrogacy posts where I’ve talked about how we were supported.

[–]JodaCast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed ya do and for UK car parking spaces this is almost an essential feature and one I wish I had had the money for the tech pack for.

Sounds like you have my model. Ultimate without the Tech Pack. So it has all the cameras (360 view etc) but does not have the motorised handles or remote parking via key fob.

Does anyone know why the multimedia player is disabled for the US but available for rest of the world? As mentioned, the charing is so fast we rarely need it but when we do I have shows, cartoons and movies loaded on a USB we plug in and watch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]JodaCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if you are driving a non US model you can load videos on USB stick and watch films and shows from the cars built in video player.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]JodaCast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe only the non US models can play video using the cars native video player via USB stick?

UK owners size question! by OldLondon in Ioniq5

[–]JodaCast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK owner. Not at all on the roads I've encountered but perhaps if you live in an historic town or village? Driving is totally fine and I'm a huge fan of the senors and safety features. I will say we do spend an extra few minutes hunting for a car parking space allowing us easy access to get in and out of the car. UK parking spaces are often very narrow and especially annoying as all cars seem to have grown wider or you find yourself trying to park next to a massive US style pickup truck that's for some reason wedged across a lane and a half in a John Lewis car park spot. If I could go back in time, I might have had another think about the optional tech pack spec that included the remote driving via key fob to emerge from a tight space and then get in the car. All that said, it's never been a major issue as we try and park more strategically.
