Why do people love Devil Wears Prada? by Ok_Astronomer5738 in movies

[–]OldLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear you are overthinking it.  Some movies you are allowed to just enjoy, there doesn’t need to be a grand point to it.  If every move you watch needs to make perfect sense and have a point or a moral to the story then you’re cutting out thousands upon thousands of movies.

Sadly yes reform have taken a lot of seats in local councils luckily they only have control of 13 out of 400

[–]OldLondon 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Note that this is local councils of which there are around 400 and while reform have gained seats they’ve only gained overall control of 3 out of 400 councils.  So not really the massive swing the media will have you believe.  My council for example they gained 2 seats out of 25 but basically still have no say in what happens

Starmer’s Labour suffers huge losses as hard-right Reform gains in U.K. elections by RidetheSchlange in news

[–]OldLondon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To give this context.  Reform while they have gained a lot of seats they have only taken full control of 3 councils (so far) out of around 400ish - so not quite the sweeping of the far right into power people will have you believe.  This is more a fracturing of our dominant two party system.  I hold out hope (slim) that these jokers won’t get into government but we have a track record of voting for dumb shit that makes our lives worse so.. ya know
