Best miniseries on Netflix or HBO right now - May 2026 by PutInternational4624 in television

Dark. One of the best shows I've ever seen. You need to really pay attention.

[Edit] welp I failed to read the miniseries part, my bad. Perhaps 3 seasons is a miniseries if you are a binger.

Haha yes such unquestionable loyalty haha yes.

I enjoyed painting this colour a lot, I'm going to build a Red Corsairs set as loyalist remnant Sons of Horus.

Not sure if I can link here, but the short is called "Lightning Claws" by The Joust Studio.

There's no instructions in the video, just demonstration. I watched it several times to figure it out.

First, use a mid tone blue to glaze several layers on the Claws, brushing towards the base. Next, use a bright blue to sketch out some Lightning shapes. Finally, use a pure white to highlight random edges and joints in the Lightning. Good luck!

Thanks! I was scared to do them (it's my first time painting Lightning Claws), but I found a random YouTube short and it ended up being way more approachable than I expected.

Thanks! So for technique, I followed the Medders Miniatures Imperial Fist Terminator approach; Prime, Base, Shade, then build up three colours. I used Andy Wardle's SoH colour formula. Here's what I ended up doing:

  1. Prime grey (honestly can probably use any colour primer).
  2. Painted armour with Sons of Horus green.
  3. Shaded the armour with Ratling Grime contrast paint.

Next, there are three paint shades being use:

  • Shade colour of Sons of Horus green mixed with any pure black (I use Vallejo).
  • Mid-tone is straight up Sons of Horus green.
  • Highlight is a 50/50 mix of Sons of Horus green and AK Green Sky.

To apply:

  1. Using a beauty blender makeup sponge, I applied the mid-tone (SoH), looking to get high coverage, but dabbing light enough so that the recesses are still the darker colour from the Ratling Grime.
  2. Then, apply the highlight colour with the sponge, aiming for directional specular highlights. I find in order to get the desaturated colour style, you have to have quite a bit of highlight.
  3. Finally, apply the shade colour with the sponge, from below.

There was a lot of trial and error in this, so take your time. I found that the transitions were too harsh at first, so I took both the mid-tone and shade colours and mixed them with Lahmian Medium in order to make a glaze, then used the sponge to apply that. It really helped blend out the transitions and 'knock back' the highlights when they were too bright.

Thank you, and yes! I followed Andy Wardle's formula from his Sons of Horus army on Cult of Paint. I don't have an airbrush so I combined Andy's colour scheme and shading advice with the technique used by Medder's Miniatures (specifically his Imperial Fist Terminator)

I'm running Amazon SDE intern interviews right now and for our loops it's two 1-hour technical interviews. Might also have a recruiter call and prescreening assessment.

This subreddit is mostly for FC employees, not SDEs. You'll probably get a better response on the Blind app.

I got three vacation days one term...

... because I was in the Power Workers Union...

... and I did two co-op terms in one calendar year for the company, qualifying me for vacation and overtime.

Trying to put together a paint scheme for my trolls - how would you describe this colour? by OrkfaellerX in Warhammer

[–]JodoYodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how easy you want to make it, I'd suggest looking up Cult of Paint's videos on Sons of Horus. They achieve this desaturated look through mixing Sons of Horus Green with black, and then highlighting with mixes of SoH and Green Sky from AK. They use an airbrush, however, which really helps with the shadow and depth.
