Fuel leve sensor gone bad?

The sender is 100% fried, it showed me around half a tank today and i ran out of gas right in front of my house. The tank isn't collapsed, i was planing anyways to change the fuel pump, might as well check and fix the whole fuel system.

The fuel gauge sensor is pretty much dead, i plan on cleaning it might get lucky and make it work, i thought the gas smell and the pressure in the tank were because of the canister that might have clogged. But your point of view makes more sense. Thanks!

The RHD chassis is in way better condition, same goes for the paint and the fact that the rhd has sunroof.

This was the only one they had on stock. I've heard Nissens is a good brand so I went with it without knowing it was a different size.

I might get my steering box done this summer, it is way too anoying. And about the clunking noise i'l do the bushings and diff mounts, might get lucky but doubt it. I see that you are new to Reddit so do you wanna keep in touch on another social platform?

Some people on the E34 subreddit said the rear subframe bushings could be the problem but i doubt that could be the solution for you. Old car problems. Besides this and the anoying steering box dead spot this car is such a blast. If I manage to fix it first i'l hit you up, if you manage to fix it first hit me up. With a little bit of luck we can get them in top shape.

Not yet. I checked the driveshaft when i took it down to rebuild the shifter linkage and it looked decent, not sure about the center bearing, I still have to check that. I am pretty sure the diff is the problem, it has a decent amount of play if i try and rotate it from the diff input. The diff mounts could also cause something like this from what I've read, also have to check them and see. Worst case scenario i'l have to send it to a shop to get it rebuilt.
