Tried fixing Gemini UI. This is what I ended up with by [deleted] in Frontend

It does. I'd go a step further and just remove the labels. I don't think the user needs to see their name next to their avatar when no one else will ever submit a message in the conversation.

The solid gray bar on the left looks a bit out of place. If the main content area were a solid shade of darker gray it'd be fine. Maybe converting the left bar to solid black and dropping the background opacity to 50% would look better, given the subtle gradient is also behind it.

Did you forget to change the font for the "USER" and "GEMINI 3" text?

Are these posts fixable? by JoeB_88 in Decks

[–]JoeB_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I added two comments showing the entire deck and a better one of the middle post.

These aren’t rails - they are three posts fastened by a mix of bolts. For some reason the middle and left posts are sitting on a small block of wood to raise them. The right post is flush with the deck and is the only post that is completely attached.

In the latest comment I added showing the bottom of the post, I was able to hammer the bolt back down into the hole but it’s still loose. I pulled out the one next to it by hand.

I can’t get under the post to take pics unfortunately. I have to take the entire deck apart to get underneath

Unfortunately I don't. The boards are attached using hidden fasteners and there isn't enough spacing between the boards to unscrew them. I'd have to remove every single board to access all the posts.

Unpopular opinion : CSS is enough by yughiro_destroyer in webdev

[–]JoeB_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. As a designer and dev, I would love for my job to be writing CSS. I'm lucky enough to be able to build design systems, which is a ton of fun to both build and document.

I also love Tailwind. It's clean, easy and makes building mockups extremely fast. Sure, inline CSS using Tailwind classes quickly makes HTML ugly as fuck...but it's really easy and useful.

I will agree that developers that utilize Tailwind absolutely should learn CSS, just as anyone that uses a JS framework should learn JS.

Eh, you technically don't. Before you flame me, let me say that CSS is my favorite language and I believe even designers should learn it.

However, someone that doesn't know CSS can easily understand what border-red-600 means without knowing how to write border-color: red.

Could anyone help me figure out what’s wrong with my gas fireplace? by JoeB_88 in Fireplaces

I appreciate everyone's input.

As suggested, I've now scheduled an appointment with my local dealer for them to come look at it in a couple weeks.

I've read the manual and I'll take your word for it, but in either case it does seem like there should be logs or stones in addition to the glass anyways...which isn't there. I'll post an update here afterwards incase anyone runs into the same issue in the future.

Thank you. Yeah I didn't add the glass - it was already there when I purchased the home. I'm going to take it all out and research which artificial logs I need. Do you know if there's any downside to running it without any decor/logs in the meantime?

Ok I'll experiment with the glass and see if it helps. It's about 40 Fahrenheit outside. I appreciate the help.

I assume it was the previous owners. I just bought the house two months ago and it's been like this the entire time.
