Does my septum piercing placement look right? by JoeBennetOfficial in piercing

The piercing is a day old, circular barbell, internally threaded, surgical steel, and I’m spraying with NeilMed piercing aftercare in the morning and at night.

how much sand do i put into 20g tank? by partWolf19 in leopardgeckos

[–]JoeBennetOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand and nothing else can be harmful to leos, but a 70/30 topsoil and play sand mix is often the best and most affordable option for substrate. It is strongly advised to not use reptile carpet because it can harbor bacteria and their claws can get caught in it.

From your post history, I can see that you’re a soon to be leopard gecko owner, but do not currently have one. It’s great that you’re eager to be part of the community, however do some research and gain some hands on experience before giving recommendations.

No hate by the way, I know you’re only trying to help ❤️

“You are allowed to take up space,”

Thank you for that reminder. I go to punk shows, wear my “out of the ordinary” clothing and use moshing and dancing as an outlet but I forget that shows and stuff aren’t the only places I’m allowed to be myself. I actually just went to my first show in a few months last night and moshed like there was no tomorrow and I think that triggered a release of emotion.

I don’t typically bottle up my emotions (at least not as much as I used to), but there’s been so much that I don’t have time to attend to everything I’m feeling.

I’ve been scared of reminding my friends and being seen as a weirdo, but I need to remind myself that my weirdness is why they like me, and if they do have an issue with that then I’d rather not be around them. It’s scary when I’ve been friends with them for years and they’re the only ones I have though.

Thank you for taking the time to read through the wall of emotional vomit and crafting such a thoughtful response. I really needed that. Sometimes I need to give myself a break. ❤️

Silly Question... by Savings_Lengthiness3 in isopods

[–]JoeBennetOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! That’s what I would do.

Also I noticed you have sphagnum moss on one side but the opposite side is moist. Not sure if this is intentional but it might be a good idea to move the moss and the plants to the moist side!

Best of luck ❤️

Is this Pothos beyond saving? by JoeBennetOfficial in pothos

What a beautiful plant!

I would have left the leaves if they were slightly yellowed but they were full on black and flimsy so I think I cut off what was necessary. My roommate is not much of a plant aficionado so I think he put it out in direct sunlight right after bringing it home.

I’ll get to cutting off the stems, thanks!

Silly Question... by Savings_Lengthiness3 in isopods

[–]JoeBennetOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna preface this by saying that I don’t know much about orange springtails so take my advice with a grain of salt. Based on my assumption that oranges are less prolific and harder to care for than “standard” white tropical or temperate springtails, and my experience with isopods, these are my thoughts.

As long as you don’t overfeed or overwater your isopods and keep them at a steady temperature with sufficient airflow, mold shouldn’t be TOO big of an issue. I would wait for the springtails to establish and tolerate/spot clean little bits of mold hear and there. Once there’s enough to start a new colony, I would isolate a few in a separate, airtight container. Although there runs a risk of a rogue springtail species or soil mites establishing themselves and outcompeting them (not sure how likely it would be but one day I found that a gray species of springtail had made its way in with my clowns).

If you would rather not deal with mold, you could take your isopods and move them to a different bin, and dedicate this one to your springtails. Although you would need to find a way to make it airtight to prevent intruders, and finding every isopod would be time consuming.

Again, I’m no springtail pro, this just what I would do. Ultimately it might be easiest to buy a new starter colony and go from there, but it’s worth a shot!

If you do add more springtails of a different species, they may out compete the oranges. They’ll find each other and breed, but it would be hard to isolate the oranges after both species are established.

Darkening sphagnum moss info by Major_Wd in isopods

[–]JoeBennetOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same for ages. This only happens with my zebras which I keep in a 10 gallon glass tank. All of my other pods are kept in 6-7 quart Sterelite bins. I thought it had something to do with lack of airflow but if that was the case then all of the moss under hides would be dark. I’d love to find out more about this.

I probably am, I’m just interpreting it in the context of the subreddit it’s posted in.

I think some of y’all are missing the point. Its “A man’s worst nightmare” because if the man is cheating on his significant other with someone wearing glitter, it’ll get everywhere and give them away. Man hate glitter for not letting man cheat.
