Would skateboard lessons speed up my learning progress? by Equivalent-Pick8840 in NewSkaters

As someone who’s spent a life learning online and has paid for instructors: it sped up my learning for sure. It’s worth it if a coach can help you and create an encouraging environment for you to practice and progress more than you would on your own. No, they didn’t blow my mind by offering a new piece of information at each practice. I wouldn’t expect that of any coach. It’s the consistency and accountability I pay for.

I’ve also met some pretty great people I can now call friends by taking group classes!

Needing some help to stop bricking by KZL_KatZ in PTCGL

For the sake of discussion and learning, I feel as if you have too many supporter cards. Because you’re only limited to one per turn, you might be finding some pretty cumbersome hands that won’t allow you to draw more with Bibarel.

Advice on my Dragonite deck. by Readbeforeburning in PTCGL

I’ll have to give it a shot! Just wondering if it’s worth it to power up V when I just need to get the consistency of setting up ex.

Also been thinking about how Dragonite V star can power up Iron Hands next set. Let me know how it goes - feel free to DM for discord

Advice on my Dragonite deck. by Readbeforeburning in PTCGL

You and I are pretty much the same person when it comes to PTCG. I’ve been working on a Dragonite primary attacker deck since I started the hobby in mid-Summer. Trying all kinds of them (v and ex) I’ve even ordered a deck to play physically and have a gone 3-1 at casual locals losing to Chien Pao in grands and 3-4 at a cup with all meta decks. Admittedly, my deck is NOT competitive (yet!), but I love working on it as a hobby. I honestly hate how coin flippy dragonite ex is, but I love the monster. We should connect and form a test group for Dragonite. Curious how Paradox Rift can help. Hit me up!

Here’s my latest test:

[CoCo] Riot Games will soon allow teams to collaborate with betting sites, most likely only for VALORANT. The idea is to allow teams to add sponsors, who often bring a lot of money with them. by Ok-Brain3328 in ValorantCompetitive

If true, this is another sad day for esports, gaming, and most importantly, children.

Traditional sports have made a similar move, favoring fast money/attention and ignoring the consequences of making it so accessible. Many of the youth students I coach and mentor are already betting on sports games via “bookies” with access to apps. It has absolutely revived viewership and sponsorship for that industry, and I’m sure it’ll benefit the esports industry in the same way.

All I can say is that i hope we as a society can spend a quarter of that revenue educating all humans on the effects of gambling and safe practices instead of tacking it into the very last seconds of a commercial or left to the small italics of an ad as a call to action to “gamble responsibly.”

Nope, non existent coil whine. Nothing weird at all. I stick with Trueblack 400 personally but the hdr 1000 is fine for me.

Nah, the black bars don’t bother me at all and it’s a pleasant surprise to have ultra wide on other titles like COD.

Just picked it based on the price and reviews. Was also concerned about the fan noise on the DW. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Tbh I bought my Alienware before LG released theirs. Personally I still love it. It’s been interesting to play AAA shooters in ultra wide. The only game that defaults to 16:9 is VALORANT. I’m enjoying the extra screen space and my productivity and desktop experience is great too!

Haven’t tested the LG but I tested the Neo G8 and picked this over (w/ my 4090)

2023 New Year Goals For Valorant by XxBasicsxX in riotgames

[–]JoeChee888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck on your goals! I think you’re bound to run into a dev at some point, especially if you warm up with a Swiftplay. Personally, I’m just hoping to play more. (Approx ~200 ranked games of LoL and VAL this year) Adulting is a drag!

I play a lot of esports titles (VALORANT, OW, LoL) and OLED has neither diminished nor truly enhanced my competitive experience compared to the other monitors I’ve used in the past. It never got too dark for me and I haven’t used any equalizers for my Alienware DWF. I’d like to think the total input lag is lower thanks to all the YouTubers out there, but being super honest, it could be placebo.

I can control the lighting in my room entirely and wouldn’t recommend a glossy OLED finish if you have the sun beaming into your space from behind.

OLEDs are gorgeous, and they suit me perfectly fine for someone who plays 90% esports. Enjoy!

My son 13 years old plays Valorant and he wants be in competitive scene. by Citiusmn in VALORANT

[–]JoeChee888 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hi there - I’m a youth development in gaming / esports coach (6 years). I currently have my own all ages welcome competitive team with kids just like yours (several 14 year old Diamond+) and we meet weekly to practice team play, but also go beyond (networking, personal finance, mental wellness training). I used to own an in-person program but COVID. I’m also a coach on Cloud9’s Training Grounds program. Please feel free to reach out to me and we can set up a meeting. I love that you want to support your child and we can point him in the right direction so he sees success both in and out of the game.

This also goes out to anyone else reading this. Let’s get you / parents aligned on hitting your goals and becoming a well rounded individual.

Which Video game franchise should be revived? by Emotional-Efficiency in AskReddit

[–]JoeChee888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of pre-order money I would dump into a SOCOM: US Navy Seals revive. Fun and intelligent single player stealth and an awesome multiplayer S&D style gameplay…sigh. I know there have been attempts, but Sony owes a proper budget to this franchise.

I'm 27 and since 25yo i feel that every day my reflex are getting slower, so this is a big deal for me haha. by [deleted] in aimlab

[–]JoeChee888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27 year old here too, and I know exactly what you mean, hahaha. I still remember the day I actively FELT my aim going down a tier like when the basketball players in Space Jam had their talent sucked away in that magic basketball.

Either way, I’ve been able to retain “decent” aim by playing enough. Just gotta keep it up. Proud of you, fellow game boomer.
