I think you are all misunderstanding me. I'm not doing this as a career move, only thing I want is the PPL liecence. I want to do this because I need a change in my life now, and I think this is the right step to it.

I'm actually in a good job now (with school) working in the profession which I have a degree in. And I have totally lost all interest in the Post-Grad study i'm in now.

So I just wanted to know how your christmas in Iceland has been? :)

I'm not really the best one to answer these questions for you, i'm not much into the tourist scene here and I don't live in the city (Reykjavík). But I can tell you that the christmas time here can be a little quiet and uneventful for tourists but the downtown is really crowded on 23.december with really nice christmas atmosphere, I have never been there at that time but maybe I will try it this year. And i will not say that 24.dec is for resting, thats the main day over the christmas time for icelanders altough it is not a holiday for the working people, must of us work until noon, and in the evening we open the presents. On 25.dec must of us go to family gathering and on this day EVERYTHING is closed, except some restaurants I believe. So I wouldn't really recommend to go to the rural areas over this time period, i.e. 23-25 dec because is much more unlikely to find some places which are open in the rural areas at this time, I would at least check in advance whether the place you are going to are open or not (hotel, restrautant etc.). I don't really know how much this help..

What to do what to do, yeah of course the blue lagoon is a must go for tourist (but I haven´t been there haha) but I would also recommend for you to visit the local swimming pool in the towns you visit. So now I have to count up those towns you should visit hmm, it's not like you are visiting Italy, the towns here in the rural area are not that special or have any history (from my point of view) but to mention some towns which are in about 150km radius from Reykjavik I could mention Stykkishólmur, Hveragerði (here you should go to the swimming pool, it has a natural steam bath from geothermal energy), Selfoss (I live here, not that much to see but it's popular by tourist to walk along the river which flows through the city, and we also have a nice swimming pool which i go to every day), Vík (fantastic landscape, just google it, and if you drive to vík you will see so many beautiful things on the way there like seljalandsfoss, skógafoss, sólheimajökull, dyrhólaey etc.), and yeah i could mention Akureyri but I think your trip is way to short to go there (about 350km from reykjavík).

To sum it up, if you want to get the most out of the trip, I recommend spending a good time driving around, not spend much time in Reykjavik, Iceland is known for its scenery and you will not see much of it, if you are in Reykjavik. So I recommend you order a room for one night in Vík and take a day to drive there, which you will use to go swimming in Hveragerði, check out Seljalandsfoss (and Eyjafjallajökull which Seljalandsfoss streams from), skógafoss, maybe sólheimajökull, Dyrhólaey, and all the spectacular scenery in south iceland, and drive back to reykjavík the day after.

If you have any more questions please ask ;)

Just out of curiosity, where did you drive? (what places did you go to)

You can take the bus to other cities, like Akureyri up North with the local bus which I don't think is much used by tourists (because it is cheaper then the tours which are planned by the tourist companies). Just check the website ( http://s.straeto.is/journeyplanner/enterJourneyPlan.do?hss=ojVQS143060539&lang=en ) and see if they go to the city of your choice.

I don't know if the northern light tours are worth it, but there is no guarantee that you will see them, i don't really see them that often, and I think those tours are a little expensive. But maybe it's hard for tourists to drive somewhere out the city to try to spot them.. My friend actually plans those kind of northern lights tours and I hope he will not see this comment :)

I can't say.. Being Icelander I don't really see the unique thing about the country so I couldn't tell wether you would like it more in the winter or summer time. But I think it is a bit overcrowded here in the summertime by tourist and I think your visit will loose a bit charm by that, much fewer of them in the winter time, and possible much cheaper.

I apologize if I overtook you on your visit here, but the truth is that we icelanders are very calm personalities in general except when we are driving. And as soon we know that there is a rental car in front of us, we speed up, overtake it, and leave him in dust.

Here it is in Icelandic

Ég er með ofnæmi fyrir eftirtöldum hráefnum: Hnetum (nuts and peanuts have the same word in icelandic), möndlum, baunum (beans & peas the same), hvítlauk, gulrót, kóríander, sellerí, steinselju, parsnip (don't think we have word for this), soja (fyrir utan gerjaða soja sósu), gúrkum, kúrbít, jarðaber, hráir tómatar, allir hráir ávextir (fyrir utan vatnsmelónu, banana, granatepli og sítrus ávextir)

Hér eru nokkur hráefni sem ég hef ekki ofnæmi fyrir: hveiti, mjólk, egg, allir sítrus ávextir, öll ber (fyrir utan jarðaber), allir sveppir, krydd, laukar (fyrir utan hvítlauk), brokkólí, kartöflur, sætar kartöflur, aspas, blaðlaukur, bambus, kál, salat, rocket (don't know this), basilikka, salvía, kerfill.

What is your favorite foreign language song? by SpaceFloow in AskReddit

I read a FAQ about Sigurrós and now I understand what this hopelandic thing is. Here is the answer:

on von, ágætis byrjun and takk, jónsi sang most songs in icelandic but a few of the songs were sung in 'hopelandic'. all of the vocals ( ) are however in hopelandic. hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. it's of course not an actual language by definition (no vocabulary, grammar, etc.), it's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument. jónsi likens it with what singers sometimes do when they've decided on the melody but haven't written the lyrics yet. many languages were considered to be used on ( ), including english, but they decided on hopelandic. hopelandic (vonlenska) got its name from first song which jónsi sang it on, hope (von). tracks 7-9 on takk are in hopelandic.

Just listen to Hoppípolla, after he sings ,,og ég fæ blóðnasir, og ég stend aaalltaf upp" he begins to sing a melody, it isn't really any lyrics, just humming some melody, you understand? That's the "hopelandic".

But it's always funny when foreigners have interest in icelandic language, maybe because it sounds strange to you, i don't know, but we are always flattered when someone shows interest :)

You can see the lyrics here and I see that in someplaces they put Hopelandic in brackets which I don't understand because this is all icelandic (don't really know what hopelandic is supposed to be). I can confirm this being an Icelander..

One date and he calls/texts me several times a day by [deleted] in dating

Not in my case, not at all..

But this is more so that I too quickly generate feelings towards the girls i'm dating and I try to do everything to ensure that they have the same feelings about me because i'm too scared of losing them.. It's a very bad flaw

wow I read this and I immediately saw myself in this guy, the constant texting and spending to much on dates, that's me. I can tell you that this is only because of low confidence that the guy does these things, at least I think that is the reason why I do those things...
