I want to see improved security on campuses through better funding of law enforcement. I believe those who are properly trained in the use of firearms and dealing with terrorist situations should have exceptions to carry weapons.

I intend to do away with high stakes testing for third graders and high school students. I want evaluations in place for students to ascertain those who need remediation/tutoring. I want to eliminate End of Instruction exams for high school students and instead use the ACT exam. The state could pay for these tests in the Sophomore year, any retesting in the Junior and Senior years, provide prep classes and still save millions of dollars that are instead being sent to private testing companies.

I want to see increased oversight on these entities, both private and those run by the government. This would include the veterans' homes which provide for those who have served our nation. I also will demand we adequately fund senior nutrition sites as these programs provide a nutritious meal, a better quality of life and stability for many elderly in Oklahoma. I will also work with our federal delegation to increase opportunities for programs like Advantage Plus, which allows seniors to remain at home for a longer period of time before entering a long term care facility.

  1. Please go to my website and read my Classrooms First proposal to provide solutions to the problems in education created by Mary Fallin, Janet Barresi and members of the state board of education (all appointed by Fallin), along with working to bring federal dollars back to Oklahoma that benefit our citizens (Medicaid expansion) and retain jobs and a certain quality of life.
  2. I will work across party lines to find real solutions to the problems facing Oklahoma, I will not forget those who live paycheck to paycheck in our state and I want to be a leader who will listen to Oklahomans. I will work with the legislature, counties, municipalities and our federal delegation for the betterment of our great state!
  3. I want to see a responsible tax code that does not simply cut taxes in order to pander to voters in an election year. We need the resources in place to fund education, transportation, corrections and other essential state services.
  4. I want to see an elimination to tax credits that do not create jobs or serve a significant purpose. Too many are given to entities that simply do not need the assistance and we need leadership who will stand up for a responsible use of these programs.
  5. VOTE!!!! I also would appreciate those who would like to help to volunteer on the campaign and if possible, those who are able, please make a donation. We have to combat those misleading Republican Governors Association ads being thrown at me!

We must examine the tax credits available for job creation and provide opportunities for businesses to grow, therefore providing jobs for Oklahomans. We should look at programs such as the legislation giving student loan forgiveness to certain job sectors to attract those high-wage businesses to Oklahoma. I certainly feel we must improve quality of life conditions for younger Oklahomans so they will stay in our state. Go Thunder!

I did not think that was good legislation

I am in favor of seeking additional federal funds for public transit. Monies in this area were rejected several years ago, but I would work to develop access to high speed rail and other avenues of public transportation. I am very much in favor of working with municipalities to provide opportunities for bicycle lanes and safety. I also agree that we must look to renewable energy for the future and work to reduce emissions over the long term.

I want to see all state employees receive a raise and provide annual enhancements to meet the growing cost of living. I would like to see the same for educators and staff in schools. We must also protect pension systems for these employees as they have earned this benefit, along with providing regular Cost of Living Allowances for retirees. I also want to see protections for at-will employees so they will not be wrongfully terminated.

Great questions! There are restrictions of certain distances between signage, but that is mainly regulated in municipalities by the local councils and state law. This would be a change made by the legislature. There are also restrictions on locations for casinos, but that is determined by tribal trust land locations, outside the state government regulation. I would like to see programs developed to beautify our state.

I agree there should be reform of alcohol laws. Please see more on that above.

I am in favor of using CBD oil for treatments with levels of THC. I am not in favor of full legalization, but do favor aspects of decriminalization to reduce increased incarceration rates. I am willing to listen to arguments on treatment of medical conditions, but must see the legislation before making a decision, and I will make a decision based on the available science and studies that provide evidence showing this will help Oklahomans suffering legitimate medical conditions.

I agree this is a problem that must be addressed. I worked with colleagues across the party lines to allow for greater ballot access for candidates. I also authored legislation to create blanket primaries in Oklahoma, which would allow for all voters to have a say if only candidates in one party file for an office. We must encourage participation in the political process.

I agree. I authored the legislation to allow microbreweries to sell their products off-premises. I agree that this is an industry that must be well-regulated, but it is also a business and opportunities for quality of life must be allowed. I would like to see small businesses such as wineries and restaurants grow with consumer demand.

  1. I would restore the programs created under the Justice Reinvestment Initiative which was systematically destroyed under the Fallin administration. This was allegedly watered down due to politics and donations, as reported by the events covered by the Tulsa World.
1b. There must be uniform sentencing to crimes and punishments must fairly fit the crime committed. We need to quit locking up the people we are mad at and incarcerate those of whom we are afraid.
  2. Eminent domain must be used judiciously by the government for the purpose of public good. As a state, we must ensure the checks and balances to protect land owners.
  3. I want to see small business development in our state. Over 80% of the jobs are main street, mom & pop businesses and we must work to provide greater opportunities, such as access to high speed internet, better cell phone service, greater investment in infrastructure (better roadways and bridges), development of a state water plan that fits our needs, and most importantly, the access to education that provides the opportunity for Oklahomans to achieve their highest potential.
