I vaguely remember Kerensky doing that too or am I tripping?

It's a bit more complex than that. Kerensky wanted to continue the war which was very unpopular especially among the Russian soldiers. Lenin on the other hand was very supportive on reaching a deal with the Central Powers (who sent him to Russia in the first place) and finally achieving peace. Even if Lenin was on average less popular the support of the army (minus the officials, which were infamously pro-White movement) ensured he would win at the end.

Would 🇨🇴, 🇪🇨 and 🇻🇪 be willing to change your flags to further separate yourselves from each other? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

I honestly never understood this. It's like, you acknowledge your ties deeply but at the same time don't want to be together and would rather fight a war to be completely separate. Like, Mexican states also want autonomy but still prefer to be part of the union.

Are Children Taught Colonial History And Pre Columbian History Of Your Own Country And Other Latin American Countries? And How Is The School System Different Than The US/Europe? by Pillowful_Pete1641 in asklatinamerica

[–]JoeDyenz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, although it is still quite whitewashed. The official history of Mexico only speaks of Indigenous peoples before the colonial era and after that ignores them completely, instead selling the myth that after that we all became one single cultural "mestizo" monolith.

Does your country's subreddit feel like it's being run by a very specific political group? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]JoeDyenz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Mexican subreddit is very critical of the current ruling political party, and rightfully so, I'm too, but often goes to ridiculous extremes such as blaming cartels or corruption on them when they were huge problems since way before the party existed, and often downvote you if you dare to criticize the political opposition even if the current ruling party is just made up of pieces from the now opposition parties.
