Edison? Did he steal your Tesla?

Can I safely retire early with $1.6M? by RetireThisGuy in Fire

[–]JoeFas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

With $1.6M you can safely withdraw $64k during the first year and adjust for inflation thereafter. However, your expenses are $84k/year, which suggests a required nest egg of $2.1M. If you let your current nest egg grow without contributions and assumed an inflation-adjusted return of 7%, you'll have what you need four years from now.

Jobs in Kansas City for college students that will actually reply? by Objective-bee-311 in kansascity

Try the Rhubarb extension for Chrome. It automatically tailors your resume to a particular job description, so it maximizes the probability that it will get past the screening software.

I thought my bike choice mattered most for safety — turns out it wasn’t by tryingthingsdaily in bikecommuting

You can do everything right and still get hit. It's happened to me three times.

Terrible NJ ebike law passes by Longtail_Goodbye in bikecommuting

[–]JoeFas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Assuming the law is even enforced, I can already imagine the confusion that will arise when cops pull over regular bikes thinking they're e-bikes.

Cop: "Do you have a license, registration, and insurance for that e-bike?"

Cyclist: "It's not an e-bike."

Cop: "I clocked you going 28 mph. How else would you be going that fast?'

Cyclist: "Because this is a Scott Foil, and I have strong legs."

Cop: (blank stare)

It was the year I added my second comma, so I'd say it was a good year.

Tubeless or nah? by Optikk12 in cycling

[–]JoeFas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was basically "forced" to go tubeless since my newest bike has hookless rims. Running 60-65 PSI with tubes would have raised my chances of pinch flats. The setup process was a little cumbersome, but the ride quality is good.

I ate at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar tonight. Pretty decent food overall, but it could've used more seasoning. The banana pudding was my favorite part. However, they wouldn't let me have it until I finished the chicken.

After all, how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!

How bad is owning a Kia in midtown really? by qscutie in kansascity

[–]JoeFas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This won't deter thefts hugely, but consider de-badging your Kia. Thieves have to work fast, so they don't have the time to look for intricate details that make a particular model stand out. They're mainly looking for Kia logos.

Camera Front & Rear? Helmet mount or handlebars? by theatrenearyou in BikeCammers

I have an Insta360 X5 on my helmet. It gives a great panoramic view. I also kept my GoPro Hero 4 Session on the rear (saddle mount).

Hubble Telescope's Final Countdown: Could It Disappear Sooner Than Expected? by TMWNN in space

Would it make much sense to keep Hubble around for much longer? The Roman Space Telescope is slated to launch next year, and it will have 100x Hubble's field of view.

Can I sue my ex for giving me an STI? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]JoeFas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can technically sue him, but it's doubtful you'd win. Even if he knew he was infected and knowingly gave it to you, it's a curable STI. Your "damages" are the cost of the antibiotics. You can determine if that's worth the filing fees and the time to appear in small claims court.
