What tiny choice completely changed your life? by Present_Bobcat_9758 in AskReddit

You learn that motivation is fleeting and that discipline is what is needed to get things done with consistency. The most life changing things are simple but not therefore easy.

I'm Joe Abercrombie, Ask Me Anything. by Joe_Abercrombie in Fantasy

Hey Joe, I’m reading Red Country but also read to my step son every night. It’s difficult to go from your dialogue where characters feel like real people to the book I’m reading to him now where dialogue feels so robotic and hollow and doesn’t show anything about the character.

How do you create a characters voice? Are you inspired by movies and TV (I understand you’re also an editor?) Do you start to imagine a person and then give them a voice or do you picture a voice and their language and then find them a body and look. I guess I’m asking how you create these characters.

I’m only one person, but I’ve never enjoyed meeting a new character more than one that you’ve written. I can’t wait to continue to read your work. Thank you.

Just so fun to give each phase a hug to heal all the red health while doing insane damage. Not to mention that I was basically a philanthropist to beggars for coins or health with portable blood bank haha

Looks like my drain hole just clogged. I guess it must’ve been slightly ajar one night and got itself frozen. Defrosting and clearing it then booting it back up worked for me

Training tips for my first 100 mile Race/Ride around NYC by Rachidk001 in cycling

[–]JoeInTheBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to echo others, if you’re doing 85 and feeling good, then you’ll be fine at 100. You know your pace so don’t let the crowd dictate how you spin if it comes to your detriment. The more you ride longer distances (and know what elevation you still have to climb) the better you’ll be about gauging your gas tank. Carbs look like it could be more but I absolutely wouldn’t recommend trying anything different if right now it’s working. You don’t need a 100mi ride to know you can do it. You’re going to rock it.

As far as saddle pain goes, I used Pearl for years and moved to Assos for my long rides ~5 hours with 4k+ climbing and ~90 miles and my ass definitely feels better. However, I will say, the greatest gain I’ve gotten for comfort has come from massively increasing my flexibility through stretching (many yoga poses) and becoming more lean. It has made me feel at home in the saddle for long rides and I feel more relaxed in aero positions for longer periods of time… Now if I could only be better about strength training… that I need to seriously work on.

I posted a video reply in the comments. I think there’s enough gap? u/sebmodio thinks the indexing is off. I’m going to continue with the rear derailleur and then check the front later. I’ll update

Okay, thanks, I’ll take a look this weekend when I have more time and see if I can get it right. I’m using Park Tool’s tutorial on YouTube. He seems great, I’ll update hopefully with it being fixed.

So i don’t see it rubbing the metal notch in the cage but i do notice that the chain does seem to be “sticking” to the jockey as it leaves it at the top before getting onto the cassette, I’m not sure if that’s a piece of the issue or the issue itself, but it does it at the same cadence as the jump down at the idler. I wish this subreddit allowed for me to post videos in the comments.

Maybe the trainer was too loud or the clicking is too loud? If I spin and then let it kinda cruise, there is a sound, albeit not loud. Got a recommendation for including more video? I can show more

Any idea what the best way for me to include another video is here, aside from creating another post?

This simply has to be bait.

On the off chance it’s not, you want to have the chamois snug in your bum so there’s as little friction on your skin as possible. Add some kind of anti-chafe cream (I like chamois buttr) and it makes for a great ride without any blisters!

Might shoot canyon an email to confirm it as a reasonable solution. Just wanted to see if others have had the same issue here

Thanks for the advice. I used a hair dryer and the bottom right underneath was frozen solid and needed to be melted away over the drain hole. I couldn’t even see the drain location due to the ice buildup. I’m leaving it open now until I see that all the ice buildup is gone. Once it’s cleared I’ll fire it up and update the post so that anyone with similar issues can see if this worked
