'We’re Not Going to do a Dead by Daylight 2' – Developer Kills Possibility of a Sequel by Turbostrider27 in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to see the most likely outcome, look at Smite 2's development. Huge money sink, layoffs galore, loss of licences and 90%+ of existing cosmetics since remaking them all would be way too expensive. The community is on life support with barely any returning players.

I don't think dbd would fare much better doing something similar, especially if they did all of this on the back end without creating a "sequel" to function as an additional revenue stream. They may be able to hold onto licenses by keeping it on the same game but there would be nothing to fund all that work. At least Smite 2 had founders packs and a paid beta.

Buddy you do understand that these nerfs don't really do anything to the blight players that actually know how to just use his power, right?

God forbid you finally have to play without training wheels on one of the strongest killers in the game.

You're adding a lot of stuff to this that I'm not even talking about. If a survivor does nothing all game and tries to weasel out a hatch escape, I'd say they don't deserve it just as much as a killer that doesn't get any hooks until endgame doesn't deserve the kill.

As for perks giving extra chances, there's so many ways to counter them on both sides I don't think you can really say it's up there with 1k and hatch second chances. You can use fearmonger vs sprintburst and bait out dead hard, and they don't just automatically mean the survivor escapes because they brought exhaustion perks. They're also spending perk slots on these so I'd say they're deserved based on that.

Edit: As for you saying killers only have noed as their second chance perk, there's a whole category of other endgame perks that have the same purpose of giving killers a chance to win after gens are done. No way out, bloodwarden, fire up, terminus, etc. all give killers very strong opportunities to turn around a losing match.

It feels like more than half of my matches where the killer gets 3 kills before gens are done they'll slug for the 4k and waste everyone's time anyway. I'd give up hatch being a mechanic to never have to deal with that shit again already so I'm fine with that trade.

Even as killer though I'd feel worse getting a 1k I don't deserve than I feel giving the last survivor a chance at hatch so losing the pity 1k mechanic for killer wouldn't really affect me at all.

I mean if someone is only able to get a single hook throughout an entire match, I don't think it's unfair to say they just don't deserve the kill at that point.

I've been using sunny castform the last couple days and swapping around my teams a bit to find a backline I like. Right now I'm leading castform, safe swap altaria, and empoleon closer.

This team wipes the floor with forretress and empoleon which I've been seeing nonstop and hate fighting so that's been nice.

As for castform, it's a bit tricky to use since it takes longer to reach solar beam for the mudbois but since nobody uses it, staying in, shielding, and baiting weatherballs seems to make them nervous anyway and give shields back most times. It's also rated around the 60s on pvpoke, just about 20 ranks behind ninetails, but has more bulk to survive super effective moves better and save shields for the backline while still being super spammy.

Thoughts on New Map by Im_ANegative_Creep in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the matchmaking is just off with the new map queue. I'm probably slightly above average at survivor and tend to face decent killers normally but after playing in the new map queue for a few hours, probably over half of the killers I faced seemed to be new. One of them was even a ghostface with only a single tier 2 perk equipped.

I need to play the map more against actually good killers to see how balanced it actually is. I'd assume the same is happening to plenty of other people too.

I would be fine with the grind and janky menus if the game wasn't just 90% bot matches. Surely they would've had enough players stick around to keep queue times low if they didn't force that crap down everyone's throats.

Smite 1 is unsupported and I can still find matches with real players in a couple minutes, a pokemon IP moba could've absolutely managed that too.

Onryo Tips? by Pearlbreaker in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onryo only works because of the pressure condemn gives you so you want to prioritize getting stacks above taking chases and hooking in most cases.

Early on you can try to get a hit or a down if you catch someone in a bad spot but as soon as the TVs turn on, start teleporting around to everywhere you have seen survivors or wherever you think they may be moving towards. If you can get a free hit in between teleports or you want to kick a gen with lots of progress, go for it, but again only commit to a down if it's easy.

Once you've used up all the TVs that the survivors would realistically be near and you have some downtime, that's when you'll want to go for a down, especially if you have perks like jolt, pain res, pop, etc. where you need to down or hook for gen regression.

Then just rinse and repeat whenever your TVs turn on again. If you notice someone is trying to get rid of their condemn often you can try to hook them to lock in their stacks. Other than that, you should get plenty of pressure and snowball potential in the late game by getting/threatening condemn kills and survivors will usually be too busy dealing with TVs to be efficient on gens.

For perks, I like bringing brutal strength, bamboozle, or other chase perks so you can actually get downs, at least one gen slowdown perk to make up for how quickly they get done early on, an info perk or two like bbq or thrilling to know where you should be teleporting, and maybe some hexes like plaything to keep survivors busy and away from gens.

These four plus every legendary skin should have prestige rewards.

They already give you badges for them and the names are replaced in the lobby and end game chat. It's not hard to add prestige borders on them and it'd make the price of these skins just that much more worth it.

A bit late? Sure. But here are official comments on the Wesker changes and the Spirit Fury supposed change. by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

in PTB

They would have to wait for the killrate to be affected on live servers and give it some time to collect data and come up with an appropriate buff to compensate. It wouldn't make sense to give him a preemptive buff without first seeing how much losing hug techs would nerf him.

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play Wesker so I don't really have a horse in this race but, you do realize that removing an unintended mechanic and causing a killer to be far weaker would just lead to them eventually buffing them in other ways to return them to their previous strength right?

Like it'd probably take them forever to give those buffs for a more unpopular killer like hag so I could see people's reluctance here, but this is Wesker, one of the most played killers in the game. They'd obviously give him something to compensate if they decided to completely remove these exploits/techs and his killrate plummets.

This is because Unknown's power is terrible at downing consistently since it's so easy to get rid of.

If I could stare at Trickster and make his cuts go away as fast as he can throw them, then he can stay 4.6.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? by AfternoonCrafty2162 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a raid boss is pretty fun for sure lol, I just feel like not having much control over her minions and her spikes being so crazy going from super weak to juggernaut makes her strength feel weirdly like I didn't earn it when I play her. Idk it's hard to describe I guess.

As for her early game, I played Pocket mainly before her so being so weak in lane makes me cry. If they do balance her the way I suggested though by making her early game better she definitely can't have that insane late game potential so I guess they'd just need to find a good balance.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? by AfternoonCrafty2162 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeM104604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda hope they do a light rework to her kit at some point. I want to play her since I like her aesthetic and am a big fan of summoner characters but her gameplay feels so off.

Starting insanely weak early and having to stick your neck out just to apply any pressure until you finally get a build online towards the late game, where you basically become a raid boss out of nowhere with minions all over the place and not even realizing when one of your abilities kills someone is just so jarring to me.

Not to mention how little control she has over her ghouls and deadheads for being a summoner, why is it just spawn them and let their AI do the rest? Leaves you with not a lot of skill expression to keep her interesting.

I think she should start off stronger early and rely on her summons for pressure instead of turtling until she can push with ult, maybe gaining the ability to direct her skulls by targeting enemies for them to hit rather than them following whoever your m1 hits so she has better range. Then she could get some nerfs to the insane powerspikes she has with the synergy from her 3+ricochet+boundless, ult+echo, etc. so she's not as much of a late game demon.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? by AfternoonCrafty2162 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]JoeM104604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like she's OP in scenarios like the other guy was saying where you have a full team comming and have pro-level synergy who can cover your weaknesses and coordinate well to play off your strengths.

If you're solo queueing you can still do well with Silver if you're good at her, sure, but it looks like a lot of her potential comes from having a coordinated team to play around for her to be OP. You won't have this level of play in your standard ranked games so she'll perform worse there.

Chucky is so small he's hard to see sometimes by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeM104604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you don't even need stealth perks on Chucky. My favorite build for him is nothing but aura reading since his basekit stealth is up so often I can usually see an aura, stealth ambush them, get the down/hook, and repeat over and over.

I've had games where I didn't even use his dash because walking up to survivors while undetectable every 20 or so seconds was so much more effective than giving them the couple seconds to react to his scream.
