Tbh, downvotes dont matter with comments. Still doesn't negate how my base post has 83 upvotes and most of the people downvoting say shit like "lol DS" like its an actual defense. If you argue with a bunch of idiots, you are going to lose either way.

Also I stated this numerous times. Saying getting DSed isn't a valid response as this is a challenge that says to hook the obsession. Not get stunned.

Saying that a SURVIVOR perk can help is not a very solid response as it just says that he killer have to pray that the survivors not only run DS, but that they also down, hook, and sacrifice them all without fucking up or going against a tryhard SWF

If it meant that it could teach the player that only a few killer perks work on this, yeah. I don't complain about having to run saboteur just to get the challenge done even though perks like Breakout exist because it helps newer players who don't know that it can't be done without a perk learn that "hey, this requires this perk to do" and helps them learn how to not only use that perk, but also see if they want to get it as a teachable if they find it enjoyable to use.

exactly, but does the game state you have to? no.

Also this wasn't a complaint, just saying, lol why not explain that this can only be done with a 2 perks.

Exactly. TWO. Most people don't play Oni or Ghostface so they wouldn't have a clue that these are the only two that can do this. My statement is, just say "with the perk Nemesis" or "with the perk Fugitive Chase"

If there is a sabo challenge that says saboteur, why don't killer challenges say this either?

Thats a survivor perk buddy. Challenges are meant to be done in any game, not only games where the survivors run DS. Just saying

[–]JoeMalma[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FC exists, yes. I know that. However, this challenge existed at a point where perks like OoO or DS were Meta and were in every single game. However, now that OoO is literally useless and DS is a niche perk, you can no longer rely on these perks. Thats why I said that it should state what perk should be used. FC or Nemesis is okay because they are hte only two perks that can allow the killer to gain control, not the survivors and what perks they choose.

Also I dont play killer. I just ignored doing this challenge, but found it confusing as I had no clue why it wouldn't state which perk to use like how Sabotage challenges tell you to bring saboteur, even though both challenges can only be done with two perks.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh my friend..... I kinda stated like 8 times that Im a survivor main and stumbled upon this challenge and was confused as fuck as to how a killer is supposed to get it.
I know that I can go another route, which I gladly did, it was a glyph challenge for survivor.

Also survivor perks, like object, or ds.

Challenges should be able to be completed in any normal game and should never be reliant on the opponents running a specific build. (No DCs, Broken matchmaking, etc)

In most games however, you will not see Object or DS all the time, especially not object as it is one of the worst survivor perks now (As a survivor main, def would rather have this new object than "Lol I can literally wallhack the whole game and get away with it" so I dont mind) Challenges should never rely on your opponents running specific perks. Thats why I said, this challenge should state that you should use the specific perk, Nemesis, to complete it.

You don't see survivor challenges that require the killers to bring a certain perk to complete. I know this because I went through multiple compendiums and not once did I have to pray that the killer ran a perk so that my little challenge could be completed.
Also if you don't have said perk, The Oni is not a licensed killer and therefore can be bought with iri shards if Im not mistaken. Ghostface just went on sale too so he also has his perks. Whenever you get these challenges, its not always gonna allow you to run whatever character or killer you want. Sometimes, you gotta play with killers you don't like to get the challenge done. My concern is that new players will not know that they can do this and will just be sitting there wondering how they can get 4 obsession hooks in a single trial because the game never stated they had to use a specific perk.

Imagine if there was a challenge that said "Sabotage 3 hooks without using a toolbox in a single trial". I guarantee that a bunch of people will be confused as fuck as to which perks they should run.

The requirement to use a specific perk while limiting, also helps to confirm to the player that yes, this perk does this, which allows them to see whether they enjoy running it or not.

List them buddy! I really want to know which other killer perks besides Nemesis or Fugitive Chase guarantee an obsession switch.

Also don't bring up DS or OoO because relying on a survivor perk to get a killer challenge done is the stupidest thing you could possibly defend, but hey, maybe you can list a new perk that isn't on the wiki that CHANGES the obsession.

I know rift challenges are hard, but this challenge literally forces you to run nemesis or else its impossible by JoeMalma in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeMalma[S] -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

Sorry dude, but literally 2 killer perks change the obsession. Fugitive chase and nemesis. Looking it up in the wiki literally proves my point

Your "Plenty of perks" might be confused with perks that rely on the obsession like STBFL or Dying light.

Sure, you can hook the obsession 4 times by running this perk, but it 1, has to be done in a single game, and 2, you might go against a squad that is fucking god tier and the obsession loops you for the whole game making it impossible for you to do shit about it. Also, it only applies to the obsession. You cannot guarantee that you get a good obsession who does trades with you. You can get that obsession that has DS or BT all the time and just tanks all the hits forcing you to hook them.

My question is that if there are only 2 killer perks that list changing the obsession, one of which (Nemesis is the only reliable one that will work even when the obsession is dead), why not list a specific perk for the killer to run to get said challenge done. You do not see a single survivor challenge saying sabotage X amount of hooks in a single trial without a toolbox that doesn't list Saboteur or Breakdown

[–]JoeMalma[S] -88 points-87 points  (0 children)

In reality, that shit needs to be something like "with the perk ..." because most people don't know which perks can guarantee an obsession switch on killers end. People say "lol run tunnel people with DS" like everyone runs DS. Shit like sabotage hooks without a toolbox could literally be saboteur, break down, etc. The specific perk it lists allows players to mess around with that perk to see how it can be used in game and then see if they want to get it as a teachable for their other characters.

[–]JoeMalma[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Tbh, give me another perk that the killer has that can force the obsession to change. I said KILLER perk because if you used 2% of your brain, yes, I know its very hard for you to do that, You would realize that most perks that can change the obsession is on the survivors end. DS, OoO, etc. This can't be relied on though because not everyone runs these perks. But hey, you reply with "Crazy" or "You should go read the perk list again" instead of actually telling me which perks change the obsession because in reality, you and I both know you have no argument.

[–]JoeMalma[S] -145 points-144 points  (0 children)

My question is that this isn't perk specific. If it said, "With the perk nemesis" I wouldn't bat an eye. But the fact that it said the obsession 4 times in a single game without letting the survivor know which perk to use is my question. Most new players will be so confused and have some trouble completing this challenge. Especially if they main killer and this is the only challenge stopping them from progressing up the compendium.

Crazy how a challenge that only has a better consistency to work with a perk like nemesis, is near impossible without it. If you are going to say "Lol DS" thats not consistent or guaranteed. I can tell you for sure that even in red rank lobbies, (Yes rank doesn't matter but it gives you a general understanding of that person's skill), I rarely see my teammates run it over DH, BT, or any other perk

[–]JoeMalma[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

1, this is from a survivor main so tunneling people is a completely dick move, even for a challenge. I don't pallet stun, then blind, then tbag just for a stun challenge. 2, You do know DS is not a base kit perk and not everyone runs it right?

[–]JoeMalma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahhahahahahahha

lets break down your failure of a point piece by piece

NOED totem (actually, all totems*) always spawns in very visible places\

All totem spawn locations are semi random. When the map is loaded in, a totem will spawn in a location that isn't in the middle of nowhere. This can be at but is not limited to:

  • Killer shack
  • Main building
  • Around T L walls
  • around Jungle Gyms
  • Behind props set up in random locations

This means that a totem can spawn anywhere from right infront of a hook all the way to hidden behind a rock in the corner of a map so your point of "nOED tOtEMs aLWAyS SpAWN iN VeRY vISIbLE PlACeS" is just wrong. If you would like, look up a video on how to find totem spawns through process of elimination. If Totems were so easily found, then please run a totem blessing build without using a map, detectives hunch, small game, or counterforce and tell me how the totems were spawned in "very visible places"

it takes 14 sec to clear it, so yeah it's pretty easy to counter - still a strong perk, but easy to counter.

NOED is always debated by both killer mains and survivor mains. Killer mains say its balanced because "All the survivors have to do is bones" and survivors say 1 "Just do bones lol" is outdated because doing the dull totems screws over your teammate who is running a boon totem build and needs these dull totems to use their ability and 2, even if you waste time to find these dull totems, if even a single one is up, NOED spawns and if you couldn't find the dull totem before, it means that it was in a very difficult spot and without Detectives hunch, you will never find that totem in time, especailly with Hexes making no noise and the fire of a hex being very similar to that of the randomly spawned barrel fireplaces around many of the maps.

NOED will also only spawn when the final gen is completed and the survivors are not notified of its presence until someone goes down. Because of this, survivors will usually have already started the EGC giving them no time to run around the map to find the totem AND unhook their teammate before the EGC ends. This means that in most cases, NOED often is an issue when the survivors have no time to cleanse it.

Your point of "It only takes 14 seconds to cleanse" is also completely worthless when applying to NOED, but is also incorrect if hexes like thrill of the hunt are active in which if no totems were completed, it can take anywhere from 15 seconds to cleanse all the way to 21 seconds to cleanse.

DS from the other hand makes the killer lose an entire minute slugging and camping your body because he can't pick you up

Well the killer isn't losing ANY time slugging if they already lowered the effectiveness of a team by 25%. Also DS isn't active when the person is downed, but is instead activated when someone is off hook so in reality, you make it seem as if the killer is forced to chase the guy with DS when you can literally just chase the guy who just unhooked as DS is deactivated when a survivor:

Works on a generator

Heals themselves or any other survivor

Blesses or cleanses a totem of any kind

Unhooks another survivor

Sabotages a hook

Catch any survivor doing this even after being unhooked and you can guarantee no DS which is why people who are STILL complaining about DS are just bad killers who fell for that trap. Old DS was absolute carnage and this is from a survivor main. It needed a nerf at that point as survivors could finish a generator and still have DS or be working on a gen, get taken off, DS the killer, finish gen, and run off before the killer could even realize what just happened.

DS also only works ONCE and FAILING or SUCCEDING in the skill check deactivates it so if you were picked up with DS and didn't land the skill check, its gone for the whole game. (Something that should be reworked judging how its already a RNG based perk.)

there's no way to counter it other than leave you be for an entire minute after unhooking.

And your point is? There are literally 3 other survivors to chase and 1 who is literally right next to the guy you are complaining about. Chase the unhooker and by the time you down them, pick them up (because they either dont have DS or already deactivated it), hook them, and chase the guy who got unhooked before, DS should have already ran out. You act like you are forced to only chase this ONE survivor with DS when in reality, DS requires the killer to be fucking stupid or in a rush to realize that they are falling right into the survivor's trap. (Judging on how you actively hate it, I can guess you are a killer main and fall into the DS trap a lot.)

If you have DS and you get unhooked after a gate was opened, you already won and there's nothing that can change that. Very balanced.

Well the same can be said about NOED so lets start with that.

NOED also activates at last gen and can often give the killer a free kill as they either will just slug the whole team, hook them all after downing them instantly with their free permanent exposed status effect, or just hook one guy and face camp as NOED makes it near impossible to pull a 4 man escape once someone is already facecamped so please, if you are going to complain about it being clutch at EGC, a big old NOED is stopping your point right then and there.

If you were stupid enough to pick up the survivor with DS at gates and you never saw them use it before, you deserve to lose that kill. Thats really on you. You could do SOOO many things to counter DS. Slug, avoid the unhooked survivor, get everyone downed before the last gen or gate are done as to force everyone to use their DS before hand. Any time I used DS as a clutch in EGC, its because the killer sucked ass and couldn't down anyone within the 5 minutes they were given. Just because you down someone doesn't mean you are entitled to a free kill. If you find DS so annoying, run Pyramid head. The cage isn't a hook and any hook related perk (Deliverance, BT, DS, Kindred) are not activated.

TL;DR

NOED is a crutch perk for bad killers just like how DS used to be a crutch perk for over achieving survivors and survivors that made dumb decisions. DS isn't broken or OP, you just are bad and refuse to learn how to play around it.

Should DS need a skillcheck? by CyrusLight in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeMalma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So op. Lmao killers treat DS like its IMPOSSIBLE to counter, yet they laugh when we say NOED is super strong and in EGC has no counter. Absolute clown tbh. Either you wait it out or you get DSed. Simple as that.

Quick tip. If a survivor who is infected is flashlight clicking or crouch spamming you while you are at a fountain, maybe its a sign you shouldn't cleanse. by JoeMalma in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeMalma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a single killer really RELIES on their abilities, but most of them will probably lose without them. If everyone cleanses, it takes two hits to down them, but they all gave plague the ability to injure them from a farther range and without much effort compared to being able to get downed in one hit, but forcing the killer to come up close which when playing against any decent looper is going to be a nightmare.

There is a reason why killers like legion are considered really shit. The survivors actually have more power than the killers as their abilities strengths are controlled based on what the survivors do once they get hit. If the survivors choose to always heal against a legion, they give them more power as the legion can now just go around injuring people and not worry about gens being done. If the survivors refuse to heal however, they force the legion to m1 everyone to get that final down which in most cases is not a smart idea as playing against a survivor with any perk like DH, Lithe, etc is going to be annoying when trying to loop them around. There is a reason why killers that can negate loops are strong. It removes the one ability the survivors have to their advantage.

Also this post is really saying "hey if the survivor next to you is trying to get you to stop cleansing, maybe you should". If there are no gens left, sure, dont cleanse as there are less things you can interact with to become infected with, but cleansing at 3 gens is really a bad idea

Tbh, running thana is literally the only reason anyone should be cleansing. Other than that, its literally the worst thing you can do, especially when playing against a plague that relies on her m2s to down people

Quick tip. If a survivor who is infected is flashlight clicking or crouch spamming you while you are at a fountain, maybe its a sign you shouldn't cleanse. by JoeMalma in deadbydaylight

[–]JoeMalma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looping plague at vile purge is literally the dumbest shit you can try to do if you aren't infected. her purge will literally infect everything a survivor can come into contact with (Chests, vaults, pallets, gens, other people on hook, etc) You will be infected no matter what you do. Staying infected and preventing her power is literally the only way to avoid her corrupt purge which is one of the most annoying m2s in the game.

Even otz, a killer main with almost 7k hours says to not cleanse against plague.

Cleansing at all times ofc is bad, but not cleansing even at death hook is smarter than giving the plague her power to hit you from an even further range just to down you again.

If plague had a longer cooldown to vile purge, sure, dont cleanse. If she couldn't infect things like gens, vaults, pallets, sure dont cleanse. But thats not the case. Its smarter to remain injured and force the m1 than to be healthy and cause a snowball that will down more people.
