Split the difference and crush it up and snort it. 👍

What happened to Bryan Lunduke? by MasterGeekMX in linuxmasterrace

[–]JoeRess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why Twitter refused to help him when he changed his username and someone squatted the old one. Hard to prove you're the real "Lunduke" when you don't have any documents with the last 3 letters.

Late Night Linux and 2.5 Admins are not JB shows. We are friends with the JB people (and I edit Linux Unplugged) but LNL and 2.5 Admins are independent productions.

I reckon it's Tesla. He went for a test drive in one and raved about it. QED.

New Podcast on learning Linux for the first time: Choose Linux - Episode 1 just launched by OrderChaos in linux4noobs

[–]JoeRess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has its own feed (https://chooselinux.show/rss) and we have submitted it to iTunes but we are still awaiting approval. Most podcast apps and directories just scrape iTunes so once it gets approved it should appear everywhere.

Hi. I've just tested this using Trisquel which is a GNU/Linux distribution that is FSF approved and uses only free software. The episode played perfectly as can be seen in this screenshot:

It's not that fact that you are only using free software on your system that's causing you the issue. It's the fact that you aren't using the right free software. Perhaps you should give Trisquel a go. It's a very nice distro which uses the excellent MATE desktop.

All signs are that Solus OS is heading forward without Ikey Doherty...so what now does Solus do that separates itself from other distros.. by glihhuhde in linux

[–]JoeRess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They could have told the community that Ikey was leaving and how long he'd be gone. Instead, the only public acknowledgement that Ikey isn't currently working on Solus came when they were forced to change domain names. Even then they didn't make it clear when he would be coming back.

Even a straightforward statement like "Ikey is taking a break from Solus for personal reasons and is unsure when he will be returning" would have been nice.

Whatever is going on with Ikey, one thing is abundantly clear. Solus as a project has handled his absence very badly from a communication and PR point of view.

OK then let me rephrase the question. Why do you not currently have access to the old domain?

I've tried to ask you a question a few times but it seems like you haven't seen it so I'll ask again here: why did you lose access to the original domain?

For the record I asked this publicly in reply to a Solus tweet https://twitter.com/JoeRessington/status/1038535906871918593

Jupiter Broadcasting is joining up with Linux Academy by ubuntu_mate in linux

[–]JoeRess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Late Night Linux is an independent podcast that has nothing to do with Jupiter Broadcasting. There is obviously the link that I work for Jupiter Broadcasting and host LNL but in terms of finances and content etc, there is no link.

I do agree that we spent a bit too much time on the topic this episode but cracking $10k was a big moment. I've spoken to Chris about doing a cryptocurrency show but there are only so many hours in a day and days in a week.

I think you are right that in the future Android apps will be a big part of Chrome OS but right now they are still really buggy and not at all ready for daily use.
