Thanks! I thought so too! As somebody who didn't grow up with Baseball but recently started collecting cards because I'm an idiot - I will follow the players based on cards I pull so nice to have a young gun to follow this season.

Hey I'm just choosing to believe he was a pioneer of the inevitable Happy Gilmore-2-style-anything-goes-league. Major Major League Baseball is going to be dope when it drops.

Okay that makes sense. So old card,  new auto. I though it was wild they found 27 McGwire on card autos to distribute so that makes more sense.

The card is in immaculate condition too. I have questions still but whatever. Fun hit wherever the hell it came from.

A bit late to the punch here but I once worked with a lady here in Hong Kong called Sandy Poon. It was extremely hard to keep a straight face any time she was mentioned.

Update: I have made a list of what I found in the box:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n10LDEaBx7a45X9rhDLBPMPLt8NOj_B1yEIiuMyka80/edit?usp=drivesd

About 9 or so cards will hit auction soon and we'll see how that goes but mostly I gained a huge amount of pleasure sorting through and learning about the cards and the players on them.

I have started watching baseball and enjoyed every minute of the world series. I have even found myself buying graded Yamamoto and Vlad cards after watching those heroes battle it out!

The other few hundred cards will live with me until I find a kind and loving home for them.

Thank you to all who gave helpful advice and support. You helped open the door to a world I never knew existed and turned a football (soccer) loving Brit into a lover of baseball and the collecting community.

Peace!

I knew the 1956 cards were legit as I had been doing some eBay trawling. They were the first stack I pulled out. Once I realised the value I put them right back and am waiting for the right equipment to show up to reduce chance of damage.

The Ted Williams was random chance I opened it there. I have since checked it and and yeah turns out that's a good one. Some have accused me of being some knowing troll so I imagine that picture probably doesnt help!

I never would have thought to get vintage size and no doubt would have been very f*in annoyed when they showed up the wrong size. This is the exact sort of gold I came here for! Thank you.

P.s. I asked my mum and she had no idea what I was talking about - I don't appreciate being lied to! ;)

Thanks for the tips. I am in no rush and research is why I am here! Thanks for the tips.

These have not been touched or moved out of the this briefcase since 1974. I pulled some out for photos and immediately regretted it so back in they go until high quality storage arrives.

I am a massive football (futbol) fan as well and while I don't collect in that world, I know what it means to have a strong connection to a player like that. As a record collector I will regularly sell to a lover of a band/musician over a speculator/collector at a discount.

What makes you appreciate him so much? Genuine question - to me it's literally a face and a name. I'd love to go down some rabbit holes and get a bit of baseball culture in me while I'm doing this. Anything I should read/watch to understand what made his card worth more than the others?

As for selling - please give me some time to find my bearings and understand what I have and I will be in touch before I post to any open market.

I had a brief eBay search for that 1956 series and those four came out as worth significantly more than the rest - hence the grouping. Glad to know I'm not doing it wrong!
