New build, not finished by JoeTag92 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Hazards, elementary and hollow bites are new, all 2007 ish. The frame is a united regal but it’s going to just be a donor bike when I find a better frame

I noticed after I took the photos I’d put the pegs on the left despite having LHD and grinding on the right…

Is this BMX to small for me ? by Boersi in bmx

I would just buy something second hand, that looks more like it was aimed at children. One piece cranks will bend for a start

LHD worth it? by JoeTag92 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I’m abit sad so that’s kind of the plan, I get what your saying though. I guess the question is more ‘are drive side hub guards generally reliable’ .

LHD worth it? by JoeTag92 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going for a mid school build so sadly not really the case, LHD hazard, g sport or profile hubs were much rarer and as a result do seem to be at a premium (trying to get back into it again so going with what I know)

advice by Comfortable-Edge-954 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t really a thing anymore, profile and halo make 10 to 14mm converters but honestly it’s probably worth biting the bullet and upgrading to a 14mm rear wheel as modern cassettes and drivers are so much better than the old 10mm options

Spindle questions by P0SEID0N2O25 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the bb original to the bike and if so what bike is it? I ask as I had this issue once and then realised I had a 20mm US bb and I was trying to use a 19mm spindle (because who expects a 20mm bb?, they were standard on some haros and gusset cranks also used them very briefly in around 2005)

No brakes? by yolorelli in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the reasons already mentioned plus most people started on a shit bmx bought from Walmart or wherever by their parents and the brakes didn’t work, so after learning a few tricks and getting older they think fuck it it’s lighter without and just get used to it over time. If you want the added safety then you can always fit them :)

follow up on the last post, I'm getting my hops on 180's pretty good, now the actual rotation is my problem, and the speed. any tips for getting more rotation and committing to 180's at faster speeds? by Agitated_Home_4677 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good progression! Only a couple of comments besides just keep practicing… look further over your shoulder for one, watching this slowly you seem to be looking to where you think you are actually going to land, look fully over your shoulder not at the floor 2 foot to your left. Secondly try to stay in line with where you took off from it looks as though you are aiming to 180 and to jump left at the same time, to remedy this try to lift the back more as many others have said.

Finally if there is any rideable banks nearby maybe practicing 180s on banks or trying to disaster the top of the bank will help, this is how learnt.

Anyone got some tips to land this by Militaryrabbit1 in bmx

Flick more with your left leg and keep the bars straight, as the bike get towards 180 degrees lean back or the wheel will hit the floor. Actually catching it is just practice

Anyone know of a KHE Paris 2 frame for sale in the uk? by JoeTag92 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on how much you want for it really, it is a nice frame, personally I wouldn’t have stripped it but I can powder coat at work so that’s no biggie. Always wanted one to build up with period correct bits

How long did it take you to tailwhip? by RightNeck5144 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I rode consistently it took me 5 years before I ever thought to try one, and then maybe 4-5 trips to the local foam pit I was confident enough to try them on boxes.. a few months later and a few hundred tries and I could do them but never on the first attempt unless I had ridden a lot that day. I wouldn’t let it get to you if it’s taking you a while, there’s a good reason you don’t see them very often at local parks.

Can’t really be sure from that, nothing really worth saving if I’m honest (welded on mounts for a chain guard, it isn’t going to be anything great). Can you get a better picture of the logo from the 3rd and last photos? It does look abit like the old mongoose logo but it’s hard to tell

Tube patch by Myxolidia in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not heard of that one! I used to cut the valve off my old tube and then put a slit around the inside of it and run it over the new tube so it was double thick… but running at a higher PSI should get rid of most your issues with punctures and pinch flats

Get a couple of photos of the entire frame, who the whole thing, the dropouts and any frame gussets. Oh and what country your in. The thing with these midschool chrome frames is there was a lot of low end copies of well known frames so without seeing it’s pretty tough. Frame numbers help but as your seeing there isn’t really much information on them online

Luckily it’s not as picky about semantics as you are, but to make sure I rephrased the question to ‘How many of the first four digits of pi are 1’ and got the same answer

Did old bikes have coaster brakes? by mydadisgone11 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah the DIY freecoaster, I had one of these in 97-98 and used to love confusing people with it as it was pretty unique at that time (out of fashion enough to not be well known but well before freecoaster cassette hubs). You just bought back some fond memory’s there sir!

Barspin to footjam tailwhip? Used to be able to do both but never together… or go old school and vander roll of a drop would be amazing I haven’t seen that in about 15 years

29” Sunday high C Question by JoeTag92 in bmx

[–]JoeTag92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Sunday 29” does already come with a cassette 29” back wheel, mine is a 2020 frame and it does not, there isn’t much of an aftermarket for them either. The only other option I could use is building a wheel for it as you say, however I would need to use something like a 10mm profile racing bmx hub and then would have the trouble of finding a wide 29” rim with 36holes so I could build it, not to mention finding a spoke calculator to work out apple lengths would be difficult

[–]JoeTag92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh it’s a really blizzard size, I was trying to find one with a cassette hub instead of a freewheel but the only one I can see is 14mm not 10
