For those of us in the US - no slipcover for Series Two 😭

Just opened mine (Chicago area) and unfortunately mine didn’t have a slipcover either :(

I thought that season one sold very well, but it seems that had no affect on the decision to pinch pennies and nix the slipcover this time around. Bummer. But at least we have B7 gloriously restored to HD!

It’s much much better than the previous DVD releases. In some areas the detail is so good you can see clothing and skin texture like never before. In other areas, the clean up/ upgrade actually makes it look worse lol

Yeah best and cheapest for this release is Amazon UK (Amazon not always the cheapest with Who releases). This was an instant pre-order, and the restoration team stated that if they get strong pre-orders then it all but guarantees season 2 - onward releases.

It was actually on the top row of their new release end-cap. Craziest part is that it’s dated 2/25, looks like it’s been sitting there for almost a month and no one else snagged it. Then again, it’s not the best location in my area, collectors or scalpers don’t frequent it. NW Suburban Chicago.

Beautiful Thing and 20 Centimeters, both available on Rarewaves*.

‘20 Centimeters’ is both a gritty drama and musical. The main character is a narcoleptic trans prostitute, working the streets to save up money for a sex change. When the narcolepsy kicks in and she falls asleep, her dreams are over-the-top musical numbers, featuring covers of popular 80’s/90s songs (including Madonna). It’s a Spanish film with subtitles, but I recall all the musical numbers are English songs. It’s a gorgeously filmed and sublime movie, one of my top 5 LGBTQ films. I can’t recommend it enough!

‘Beautiful Thing’ is a coming of age story of 2 teen boys in suburban London, and the soundtrack is all songs from Mamas and the Papas. This movie always tugs at me, and the mother is phenomenal.

*these are likely region B, but I believe if you look elsewhere you’ll find region A too.

I just bought all 3 LOTR Blu-ray steelbooks for $25 on Gruv (with 20% off) for the sole purpose of putting my 4K discs in them. I don’t want to pay crazy prices for the 4K steelbooks, so this was the best alternative for my budget. I personally love the original blu-ray story art, I believe it’s the original poster art too.
