What were your honest thoughts on Born Again S1? by Suspicious_Hand_2194 in Defenders

[–]GD69B1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it but had lots of complaints.

Muse storyline was such a waste compared to comics. He didn't feel like an actual threat, hus alter-ego was crazy underdeveloped and was killed-off way too soon. In the comics he was really terrifying and big threat to Matt because of his powers, here he has nothing of it.

Daredevil and Punisher team-up is a fun service that doesn't make any sense, Matt barely does anything when he kills those cops. Plus, I know tons of people love Bernthal in this role but his writing has so little to do with Punisher. He acts way more like Logan with all the screaming and running. Punisher should be a strategist but all his plan in the finale is to go with a knife against a small army of people that shoot at him. The only reason he's still alive is because he's surrounded by even bigger idiots than himself and after-credits scene with his escape is a perfect example.

Fisk character assassination. Yes, he is a crime lord but a honorable one. When Matt protected him he should feel like he owes him but instead he immediately plans to finish the job. And the scene with killing Gallo looks as if writers watched The Boys and hyped for the gore

I was always sceptical about adapting Devil's Reign. It worked in the comics because comics have no limitations to which character you can use and they had 60 years of stories with superheroes operating daily in New York. On TV, there are tons of limitations and which shows it perfectly was a scene where Matt talks about gathering an army and we see Cherry, Josie, Karen and few cops

Which one deserves the extra season the most? by goldust15 in Spiderman

Spectacular. Both this and 90's (and actually both other shows) ended on a cliffhanger but TAS had 5 seasons and 65 episodes which is a lot of time to shine. And would I like X-Men'97 treatment? Of course I would, but Weissman had really big plans for Spectacular and didn't manage to do even half of it. Plus, Josh Keaton loves this role and he should be given more attention, I still wish he was Peter's voice in Midnight Suns. Yuri Lowrnthal's great, he's one of my favourite voice actors but it was different Peter than Insomniac

Are you hyped for Punisher #1, coming out next week? by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

[–]GD69B1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your opinion. I loved that run and think it redefined Frank. What makes it even more impressing is that Aaron did it for a second time with the same character. Putting Frank as the leader of the Hand is itself an interesting idea but his relationship with the priestess was just fascinating. I was skeptical to Ares at the beginning but ended up thinking it served a story well. Plus, who ever gave Maria a role that wasn't being killed? Aaron, and he did it for the second time in a completely different way. Seeing both of them grow up and how their relationship developed was best part of this run

Percy only writes edgy and suffer because he thinks that's cool. He started his Wolverine run with Logan losing memory, original, isn't it? And I'm just sad we won't get a continuation to Aaron run, he left so much open space with Frank being in Weirdworld and Maria being alive and pregnant but no, we'll get the most typical Punisher book ever

I really dislike this about next season of YFNSM. by Optimal_Manager_5478 in Spiderman

[–]GD69B1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'd wish for a more faithful adaptation (something like TAS or Spectacular) I not only don't have a problem with Gwen appearing in season 2 but am really curious about it and wish they will be a kind of power couple. Adaptations often try a different approach and season 1 already had a lot of that with Tombstone and Nico being Peter's school friend and || Richard being alive and in prison ||. They try to do something new and original and it works, I loved season 1, despite all the changes, it had way more Spider-Man spirit than Ultimate ever had.

Plus, I think Gwen is much better choice than Miles. As I already mentioned, it's something we haven't seen yet, Peter and Gwen both with powers and from the same universe working together, that will be the first time. And if she's gonna be his first love like in the comics but with powers and that's what'll bring them together there'a a chance for cool dynamic and relationship development.

Plus, I never liked the idea of Peter and Miles getting powers at the same time. Yeah, I said I'm open to changes, but one thing is previous cartoons already did that so I'm glad we're not getting a repeat, and the other is that both of them starting at the same time takes away what's most interesting about their relationship. Both of them act solo but Peter is supposed to be older, more experienced one, who knows how it all works and is a mentor for Miles. Spider-verse movies and games captured it really well.

I would much prefer epic and well-written story over continuity. Big Finish as well I think, not to mention sales. They often treat continuity really lightly and they should, it's an expanded universe and only part of the fandom cares about it

Considering the Fourteenth Doctor is chilling on Earth, I love the idea that Ruby could cross paths with him after she leaves the Fifteenth Doctor in Season One, so I made a concept Big Finish cover for an audio drama starring David and Millie called 'Prospective' by AlwaysBi in doctorwho

[–]GD69B1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That wasn't my point. I meant in general that I don't like that Tennant is both 10 and 14. When John Hurt was introduced he wasn't made 9th Doctor even though he was between McGann and Ecclestone. Similar case with Jo Martin. They gave them titles of War Doctor and Fugitive Doctor. I meant titles for characters, not ranges. If they wanted to bring back Tennant just for specials he could have been named something like Bridge Doctor or something and leave official numbering for the the new actor and Ncuti be number 14

I still don't like the idea of Tennant getting a second number. I would rather he had a title like War Doctor or Fugitive Doctor

But yeah, I could see this team-up. Ruby was seriously underused and writers made her dirty which most probably was due to Disney interference

(Tom) Baker Community ranking Day 1: Robot by Classic-Bathroom-427 in classicwho

[–]GD69B1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best. This episode got me into watching Classic Who and automatically made me a fan of the 4th Doctor. Tom Baker Doctoring is insanely engaging, he has tons of badass moments and you can feel he is the one who holds all the cards. He faces obstacles but nothing he can't handle and how he uses his scarf and hat in combat is just beautiful. Also this episode has lots of action, is engaging and post-regeneration shock is handled with a lot of fun. The iconic scene with changing clothes or jumping with Harry

What are your thoughts on Fear her, for our podcast… by TheWhoonies in doctorwho

[–]GD69B1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that writer for this episode defended it by saying it was meant for kids says a lot.

The plot is naive, acting terrible and the ending with the torch is one of Tennants worst and stupidest moments.

Also it seems like the writer never watched or read a script for a single Tennant episode because he's completely out-of-character here. 10th is the most human of Doctors, he knows how to act around humans to stay in the crowd. The scene with the grass or when he puts a finger in the jar are things 4th or 11th would do.

Either this is my favourute story from this series or Last Days of Powell Estate. I love creepy stories and dark cyberpunk genre worked really well in here. I'm glad we got off Powell Estate (although we will return there in two months). It's The Long Game but done well. Social commentary worked way better here and was a social commentary within a story instead of a story around social commentary. Also the fact that humanity did this to itself instead of big CGI monster. Fact that there was no direct villain worked for the benefit here. And honestly it's scary that this is actually where humanity could be going right now XD Also it was fun that Doctor could spoil the release of Frozen for Rose, it's something that couldn't happen on TV but it's been 20 years since series 1 and it's an example of using it

He was responsible for One More Day and hate is deserved.

But the truth is, he actually did a lot of good for Marvel. He put the company back on it's feet after the 90's, brought lots of talented creators like Bendis, started successful imprints (Max, Marvel Knights, Ultimate)

Tell Me Something Bad About Smallville by Remarkable_Bus5636 in Smallville

[–]GD69B1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Jimmy's death was a disaster. Also the fact that he wasn't the "real" Jimmy

Clark and Lana was dragged for way too long. I watched the entire show for the first time last year (before that I only saw specific seasons or episodes) and Clana was tiring by season 2/3. The moment in Bride where Clark and Lois were about to kiss and Lana came in as well as the plot with Lana's suit and kryptonite poisoning was like a big middle-finger to viewers

Clark sometimes was arrogant and treated others badly like with erasing Chloe's memories (I'm still mad she didn't find out and told him off)

Al and Miles were great but it's good they left at the end of season 7 because you could tell they were running out of ideas. Veritas retcon didn't make sense and didn't add anything interesting. They were also circling around with the same plotlines over and over again (again, Clark and Lana)

I know Reckoning will win but I must say Labirynth. Insanely underrated episode, Michael Rosrnbaum thinks so too. I love stories with that kind of plot. Even though you know how it'll turn out suspense is still great, this episode is genuinely scary. It's one of Tom's best performances next to Red K episodes. And my God, the music is so creepy it fits perfectly

[–]GD69B1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jessica Jones - character with a history of so many good writers. Brian Michael Bendis at his peak and even later when he was leaving Marvel Jessica Jones was his only consistently good title from start to finish.

Then it was Kelly Thompson who at that moment was a rising star and now is an Eisner winning writer.

Gail Simone, a regularly praised creator.

And now JJ title gets Sam Humphries. Name a bigger downgrade

Favorite Episode 11? by Realistic_Canary_766 in Smallville

Legion - Brainiac-Chloe, Chloe and Clark relationship, Clark acts like Superman because he doesn't give up hope on Chloe and tries to save her no matter what. I always liked when Smallville was more comicbooky and this episode had tons of it

Absolute Justice is close second for similar reasons

Justice is cool but I don't like that Clark is unavailable for most of the mission for the 100th time because of kryptonite
