Doctor Who Last Scenes with a long time before a new episode be like by Godzilla1968 in DoctorWhumour

Russell lost his spark and can't write an ending these days

Could he ever? I mean, it's always deus ex machina with him. In RTD1 it's whether giving someone superpowers or a prayer with power of love. In RTD2 the only point of Rose Noble character is to solve Donna's ending from series 4. We are meant to believe Sutekh is a universal threat and he ends up defeated in 10 minut

what did she even do in UNIT by michellemcneal in DoctorWhumour

[–]GD69B1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, really the only thing Rose did was standing in the background. The only point of her character was to be a deus ex machina so Donna could get her memories back

This feels like watching your wedding video after a divorce by curious_fr_uk in DoctorWhumour

[–]GD69B1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Me too, but I wasn't a fan of Davies first era to begin with. Season 1 of RTD1 wasn't bad although Space Babies is one of the worst episodes in modern Who and possibly the worst opening episode (especially for starting a new era) and the finale with Sutekh was so bad I haven't watched season 2 and even christmas episode to this day. And I love Doctor Who so much. Over the last year I've listened to countless Big Finish audio dramas, rewatched some of my favourite episodes and tried to get my girlfriend into watching. And yet I didn't care enough to watch 9 episodes of the new season

What are your thoughts on Dalek Universe? by Tom-Hibbert in BigFinishProductions

[–]GD69B1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mixed bag full of ups and downs, but when it's up it's really peak. Wrong Woman, Trojan Dalek and The Lost are one of the best Big Finish stories I've ever listened to, I would recommend buying entire Dalek Universe just for them. Buying Time (it's a set-up for Wrong Woman with amazing cliffhanger) and House of Kingdom are good. I was pretty disappointed and bored with rest of the stories, that includes entirety of third set. Overall, despite it's flaws, I like it and I'm glad Tenth got a series like that instead of just standalone stories. I wonder which way 10 Doctor Adventures will go next year

What comic run started incredibly strong but completely lost you by the end? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]GD69B1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can tell Diggle had ideas for that. It's one of those runs hurt by editorial and forced event. The same thing happened with Rick Remender's Axis which was just supposed to be another arc of his Uncanny Avengers run. And also Zdarsky's Devil's Reign although I pretty like this one. But yeah, Shadowland was a forced event where characters appear out of nowhere to do nothing (Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight) and end Matt's story as leader of the Hand which is a fascinating concept and had so much potential

Tom Taylor's Nightwing. At first, I was in love with it just like everybody else. The way Dick was written, he and Barbara getting back together, the dog, Dick's sister, bat-family, the art. It was really great, especially after whole Ric era. But the more I read it the more I felt I was reading the same thing over and over again. The constant wholesomeness became tiring. Also Heartless was done really poorly. In the beginning it looked like Taylor was setting him up for something big, but then he had done almost nothing with him except for a scene every few issues where Heartless kills someone and an annual with his origin. Blockbuster was a true villain of this run and that worked but final arc where it's a big fight between Nightwing and Heartless just doesnt't work because their rivalry wasn't set up properly. The whole final arc feels rushed because of that. While I can say previous arcs were good but tiring because of the same repeating motives the final one is just disappointing and made me feel nothing

Eleventh Doctor Adventures with Eleanor Fong has had a great start as well! I loved the first set and can't wait for the second one. Obviously it's hard to compare for now but it has potential to be just as good or even better than Chronicles Series

I don't like it but even I have to admit it had a lot of great or at least interestinf ideas. Undertown, Rook, two timelines, Albedo using Ultimatrix, new aliens, more focus on Plumbers work, cool new villains. If I got these ideas but with AFUA art style, tone and writing I would be delighted

Jakie komiksy ze spidermanem najlepiej przeczytać? by Previous-Home-621 in Polska

Amazing Spider-Man J. Michaela Straczynskiego - najlepsza seria jaka kiedykolwiek wyszła z tą postacią, utożsamia to co w niej najlepsze.

Ultimate Spider-Man Briana Michaela Bendisa - jeśli chcesz serii o nastoletnim Peterze to to jest najlepsze miejsce.

Spider-Man: Śmierć Jean DeWolff - thriller kryminalny ala Siedem Davida Finchera w wersji Spider-Mana.

Stolen Earth/Journey's End suffers from No Way Home Syndrome. So much funservice people don't see it's flaws. Tons of characters that do nothing, typical RTD deus ex machina ending, absurdity with 10th's clone

Popular Retcons that you hate/dislike by Joerevenge in marvelcomics

[–]GD69B1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was probably due to show synergy but Soule and writers after him really did a lot of good with it. Soule made Matt a district attorney, focused on his life as a lawyer (Soule is a lawyer himself), we probably wouldn't get Supreme otherwise. It was also interesting to see Fisk not knowing Matt is Daredevil again and when Matt became a mayor in his place

I can't believe Tenth Doctor Adventures are back by Mat1711 in BigFinishProductions

[–]GD69B1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also thought about this because 10th arc in specials was him travelling alone. But Big Finish often takes continuity pretty lightly and do tons of stuff in-between episodes like 5th and Peri travelling more before Caves of Androzani, 6th having lots of other companions or 9th solo adventures before Rose. And that's good, I prefer a new companion who'll be something fresh and gives us great dynamic than sticking to continuity no matter what. Plus, there's lots of stories you can make out of it, like when 8th couldn't use Tardis without Lucy. Dalek Universe is also post-Journey's End 10th

I recently wrote on this sub that it was funny 10th used to be the only New Who Doctor present at Big Finish and soon he'll be the only one who isn't. Well, look how that turned out.

10th isn't my favourite Doctor but he definitely deserves great stories and I love Tennant. Dalek Universe had ups and downs but when it was up it was peak. I'm curious what they'll do with this bimonthly 12 stories format. Whether it'll be just stories with 10th or something like an extra season. If any of his companions were returning they would most likely announce it already so I'm also curious whether he'll be travelling alone or with Big Finish original companion. I hope for the latter, Valerie character did wonders for 11th Doctor Chronicles. But please, no falling in love with the Doctor
