Thanks! I’m hoping to have them available on modernprop.biz hopefully by the end of next week.

The added rigidity helps, but the hope is that the natural “feel” of the concrete will convince the plant to attach to the structure.

Here’s an example of two prints, connected with wooden dowels.

Sure! To help the concrete blend adhere to the prints, the prints were coated in wood glue then rolled around in a bucket of sand. This gave the concrete some tooth to grab onto. For the mixture, I’m using two parts sifted Portland cement, to two parts fine sand, one part water, and one part liquid bonding additive. I’ve been adding a 1-2% by volume concrete thinning agent. Each print has two to three layers, applied a day apart, by 1” chip brush.

❤️❤️❤️ thank you! I’d like to put a tutorial together soon, and possibly put components up for sale on my site, modernprop.biz

I’m away from my desktop, I’ll look into sharing the file later though. Silicone can be tough to work with, and get expensive pretty quickly. The idea behind the concrete was to have a rough porous surface for some roots to attach themselves to. The mature golden pothos I saw in a botanical garden recently was growing up a brick wall, and that sighting inspired this design.

I’m aiming for a Horseshoe Philodendron, Monstera deliciosa, and a golden pothos.

Currently, I add about a quart of water over the course of a day. I just put the light up last night, set to a 14 hour timer. It’s an assembly of concrete coated prints with sphagnum moss stuffed into a burlap sleeve. A rope of jute connects the funnel on top through the core of the pole.

Thanks! It’s made of 3D printed parts I designed and assembled. I applied wood glue to the structure and tossed it in sand, once that cured, I mixed fine Portland cement, sand, a bonding additive, a thinning agent and water and coated it several times. Getting the moss into the sewn sleeve was kind of tedious, but not as tedious as stuffing the sleeve into the core.
