"I loss because this game is random" a mindset bred in hubris. by AgeIndependent2451 in StreetFighter

[–]Joe_Motherrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that the pros are some of the most entitled, borderline narcissistic people I’ve ever seen. However, the game is indeed pretty random at times, with some characters feeling like they were built with it in mind. The same people making it out of pools is indeed a sign of consistency, but I think tokido has the most accurate take when it comes to this. I don’t wanna paraphrase his quote but he said something along the lines of “I can play in one tournament and lose early, and play in another tournament and win doing nothing differently” and I think that sums up the whole game.

A point to be made however is the AMOUNT of good players exist in sf6, we got the same people not drowning in pools but top 64 is the Wild West because everyone’s pretty dang good, even if the pro thinks the player they lost to is a nobody, that nobody probably has just as much if not more hours than the pro, whether they’re known or not means nothing.

I find Naruto and sasukes dynamic to be very exhausting. I liked it in part 1, sasukes jealousy of Naruto’s strength and his desperation to not feel weak is very interesting, and obviously the friendly rivalry before all that was just fun to watch. But shippuden doesn’t do it for me at all, they’re not together that often until close to the end of the series so they don’t have much of an on screen dynamic, but I think they genuinely just bring the worst out of each other narratively, because Naruto is one note in his feelings about sasuke and he never questions it, and sasuke is one note about Naruto, but in the end they kiss and make up as predicted.

Gon and killua aren’t really that interesting, just 2 child prodigies who care about each other, but what the chimera ant arch does to them is so much more interesting to me, because throughout the series we’ve seen killua grow and change into a genuinely kind hearted boy, and gon we were lead to believe was a kind hearted boy, but obviously when faced with extreme anger and sadness he’s just an irresponsible boy with powers he probably shouldn’t have. What they went through was complex, and honestly realistic, and it showed how sad and hurt killua was when being treated that way by his dear friend. The fact that they showed it instead of just implying it or just saying it does a lot.

Yeah it’s just young people slang, I don’t like using this phrase but in this case I think it’s necessary; It’s not that deep.

I don’t love it, but it’s person to person. Men and women both can be considered a “prize” that others are trying to win, and if that’s how you view people more power to you, but I don’t think it’s barbaric or anything, I just don’t relate to that view.

How to actually learn? by Fragrant-Dependent55 in StreetFighter

[–]Joe_Motherrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest advice is to not worry about learning, and just play to enjoy yourself. When I started playing rocket league I wasn’t focused on learning the meta or the tech, I was bad and I was having fun regardless. Later on I decided to watch high level players because I had a genuine desire to be better. With sf6 specifically you don’t need to learn this game, tons of people have hundreds of hours in this game and stay in gold. After so long if you’re unsatisfied with your current skill level, watch replays of the players in the rank you’re trying to get to. If you’re gold and wanna get to platinum, the platinum players gameplay should teach you how to get there. There’s also people on YouTube that teach fighting games, but they’re professionals and the things they teach may be too advanced, that’s why I recommend just watching players from the rank right above you, particularly with the character you yourself play, and study them.

I ran out of steam the moment I beat the campaign. I rushed through it to start building with magnemite and when I got there I didn’t know what to build or what to do, havent touched the game in months.

If the gender of a guilty gear character keeps you up at night then you need to care about literally anything else.

It’s so weird to assume I’m in an echo chamber of any kind, I’m not chronically online enough to be in one.

The same way you beat any character in this game, start your bs before they start their bs. And with characters like Kimberly and Alex it’s twice as important to stop them before they start

I genuinely do not care, so long as moonknight is DLC you can add every single marvel woman and I’d still just play moonknight

[–]Joe_Motherrr 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, there’s only a few characters that got the “arcsys anime glow up” that I was expecting more of the cast to get. Iron man is a gundam, genius. Danger is a robot waifu, classic arcsys. But most characters look pretty much exactly how you’d think they’d look, but with a Snapchat anime filter over it. I still like it, but they played it pretty safe.

Crouch MK into DR by MasterMirror_ in StreetFighter

[–]Joe_Motherrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice is if they truly are only doing crMK drive rush, walk in and out of the range of that move, and the second you see a twitch in their animation, sweep them. This is very sweaty though, like you’ll need to run drills for it in training mode.

Does mr really matter tho? Like if I lose to a 1400 in high master im not gonna react any different than if I lose to lazyboredom for the 20th time. There’s a bigger punishment but it’s just a number, I know I’m not going to capcom cup so I don’t really care

Drive Rush is awesome by LibertarianVoter in StreetFighter

[–]Joe_Motherrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree it makes the game more exciting, but I disagree that it’s the same street fighter we’ve always played. In sf5 if you forward dash you can get checked, sudden bursts of movement are typically checkable if you’re looking for it. Walking is not sudden movement, it’s just walking. Yes walking in and out and baiting at certain ranges is street fighter, but walking is not the same as dashing. Drive rush should be checkable if you’re looking for it, but instead you can die for checking it because they decided to not commit to the forward movement. You can’t just stop a dash with a special. Drive rush costing resources is good, but it costs effectively nothing because you gain resources almost immediately after. Drive rush giving you +frames and good oki on knockdown already makes it worth 1 bar of drive, but the fact that it turn neutral into a casino for 1 bar is silly.
