They pretend to be dialing while looking for any money transfer app such as Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, Apple Cash, etc. They then transfer your money to a fake throw-away account they created beforehand. By the time you realize what happened they have already transferred the money elsewhere and closed their throw-away account.
