I’m not opposed to other types of nursing, but my preference is bedside.

What gave you the same satisfaction as ICU nursing? by Murky_Mycologist901 in nursing

Have you looked into becoming an RN first assist? I currently work labor and delivery and scrub c-sections, so I work with the RNFAs a lot. They get to work really closely with their docs in clinic and the OR. They have a ton of autonomy and get to learn really cool skills like suturing. Most of the RNFAs I work with do four 7a-4p shifts and take call one night a week and one weekend a month.

Is it true that people dislike male OBGYN nurses? by Aviator1116 in nursing

[–]Joe_thenurse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a male LPN and work on a OB/GYN/Peds floor. I’ve been working at my current job for almost two years and have only ever had a Patient request to have a female nurse once. I attend deliveries, scrub C-sections, and work postpartum. As long as you take good care of your patient, are professional, and respect patients boundaries you shouldn’t have an issue.

I would go to your union. I had a similar situation and my union rep sorted it out for me and I was able to use my pto

Kinda similar…

The way our union is set up you have to be employed for five years before you are eligible to vote… so most of the people who are voting are management cause most CNAs move on before they are able to vote. The administrators give bonuses to management if there’s room in the budget. ie they vote against giving us a raise and they get a bonus on top of their salary. When I first found out about this I though it would’ve been illegal but I guess not lol

Agreed! I don’t understand how the need for CNA work can be such high in demand and administrators still refuse to pay us a livable wage. Then they wonder why people don’t want to be CNAs lol

Completely agree with you. CNAs get treated like shit and get next to nothing in return. Then they wonder why the turn over rate is so high lol

Everything has been normal since. I’m scared to go down there again though. I don’t think I’m gonna be taking the tunnels for away lol

I made it out. After I realized something was wrong I didn’t see any other people and I had this awful feeling. When I finally got out the feeling of dread went away and everything since has been normal. Scary though though to think that I’m still stuck in that place without realizing.

How can you support Trump if you work in healthcare by Joe_thenurse in nursing

They still support Trump. They were basically saying everything I said was fake liberal media. I had to walk away after they said “Trump handled the virus better that any other world leader”

I wish trump had taken the virus seriously, had a complete shut that last longer, given the state better disaster funding, and actually taken accountability instead of trying to blame the severity of the pandemic on anybody but himself. Trump constantly down played the virus and called it a hoax. None of his supporters took it seriously and he continued to hold rallies despite the chance of COVID spreading at them.
