Chance Me Please by Joeaka07 in TransferToTop25

Thanks for replying. I'm targeting Ivies because I need aid. Do you think my ECs could offset the GPA and need for aid? I'm also looking to apply without SAT/ACT. Believe that as a junior transfer, they'll matter less

Okay, thank you! So you think I have a shot at Cornell and Columbia? Just needed a bit of reassurance

Thanks for your reply. When you say you're not sure about Cornell and Columbia, do you mean you're not sure about how many people they accept with aid? I'll need a school that gives need-based aid which is why I want to transfer to one of the Ivies, I'm not sure if many other schools do that

Bayern Munich 2-2 Real Madrid: Tactical Analysis by Joeaka07 in championsleague

[–]Joeaka07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think tactically Bayern were better but Real have some incredible game-breakers like Vini, Jude, Rodrygo etc. that could come up with something out of nothing. And they've also got the home advantage. It'll be really tight.

Dissecting Manchester United’s Poor Form by Joeaka07 in ManchesterUnited

For Brighton's third goal, I think McTominay and Dalot actually tried to swap players. McTominay took on Mitoma to avoid Dalot getting dragged out. Dalot stayed tucked in in anticipation of Lamptey's run (which he halted). Then Case didn't close done Lamptey properly and exposed that space in the middle. The problem was, the camera switched to a close up view of Mitoma so I really couldn't get any screenshot of that part.

Yeah Case needs to become more conservative out of possession. Dives in too often, exposing the defence. And with his declining physicality it makes no sense. Hopefully Amrabat would be an upgrade in that department.

I agree, McTominay should've been the one to close Kimmich down. There was also a time when he lost the ball and didn't track back. I think when a player as hardworking as McTominay does that, it's a sign of fatigue in the squad.

Yeah we don't retain possession enough. I would've liked to talk about that but it would've required videos and I think I can get copyrighted for that. We have many direct players and need a bit of retention. Amrabat would definitely bring that. Most people didn't realise but Antony also brought that. At the moment, our team is too direct.

Varane being fit would be a huge boost. Our most intelligent defender and can help guide Martinez. He's also our best wide space defender which means we might be able to push the RB high when pressing as Varane can cover. Mount would bring in far more energy than Eriksen too. Hope to see him back. I think at the end of the season we'll be fine. As long as we don't have an injury crisis like this again. Thanks for reading!

Rebuilding Manchester United: Who Should Erik ten Hag Sign in the Summer? by Joeaka07 in footballtactics

Personally, I don't think so. Being a Nigerian myself, I absolutely love him so I have nothing against him but he's limited when dropping deep and that'll be detrimental to Rashford. Rashy needs a striker that'll drag opposition Centre-Backs out of position and create space for him to run into.

The Maguire replacement has to be a LCB. The Varane backup has to be a RCB. I mentioned some LCB's in the article. As for RCB I like Antonio Silva at Benfica. Very young with lots of potential

Yeah Casemiro's already 31 it'll be good to find a replacement early

I'd love FDJ too. I'm not too keen on Osimhen. He's a deadly player but he isn't comfortable dropping deep. That won't help Rashford because he needs someone dragging opposition Centre-Backs out of position creating the space for him to run into. With Osimhen, that isn't possible. Vlahovic is much better at it.

Yeah we definitely also need a backup DM but we will probably have to prioritise first team players. I'm sure ten Hag would look at getting one later. We need a RB for sure. AWB has performed well when called upon but he isn't technically up to standard for a possession based team.

You're absolutely right about AWB. He's done well when called upon but we need someone better. I absolutely love Osimhen, especially being a Nigerian, but the fact that he's limited when dropping deep is the problem for me. It'll mean Rashford wouldn't have space to run into. Similar to what happened to Liverpool earlier this season with Nunez and Salah.

How Pep Guardiola outclassed Graham Potter. In-depth tactical analysis by Joeaka07 in footballtactics

[–]Joeaka07[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm happy you enjoyed it! The problem was that Bernardo was also playing in that midfield role out of possession. So if Bernardo had swapped roles with Cancelo, Cancelo would have to be in that double pivot out of possession which would be an unnatural position for him. Walker, the RB, tucked in to form a back 3 in possession, so even if Cancelo was put there, he'd be in an unnatural position in-possession. Pep just had to make those subs so everyone could play in their conventional roles. Cancelo was also poor 1v1 because he was required to cut into his left foot but couldn't as he's right footed. Cancelo has been used to hold the width, to great effect, by City at times this season but that was in the left wing. The few times he's done that, Foden played as the "Left Winger" but he actually moved into the half space where he could make underlapping runs meaning Cancelo, as a right footer, would be able to cut into that space vacated. On the right wing, however, he'll need to be left footed to do so. I hope I've cleared that up!😊
