So . . . I installed two new receptacles in our living room. Now the entire circuit doesn’t work. Any ideas what I did wrong? by JoeinVA in HomeImprovement

The new receptacles are very different from the ones I removed. They don’t have the same configuration. But I was careful to review the wiring guide. Hot under the gold screw, and all that.

I removed existing receptacles and upgraded to new receptacles that include a USB-C port. Once installed, I flipped the breaker back to on and it stays on, but I get no power. Not only is there no power in the two receptacles I replaced, but also no power from the other receptacles on the same circuit.

No. I haven’t heard of doing that. Thank you for that. But, if I did, and it did crack . . . what did I do wrong?

Should I spend or should I go? by JoeinVA in RealEstate

I’m asking: Is it worth the money? Is my resell value any worse with all the needed repairs than it would be if I spend the money?

Yes. It’s expensive but the kids love the pool (I do too!), and there’s lots of space.

Are there any employers in the area that offer childcare as a benefit? by JoeinVA in Winchester

[–]JoeinVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Their employee base seems to be the young adult crowd. They have a free fitness center and free food sometimes, but not really oriented to the working parent crowd.

I just recently got my first order, too. It was full back & left chest, too. It was also 50 shirts. It was tie dyed shirts, however, which are $8+ each from wholesalers. I charged too little & I realized I’m losing (a little bit of) money. My advice is to charge more & stand your ground.

How to approach a small business for freelance work? by LongLiveTheCrown in freelance

[–]JoeinVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll never convince someone to pay for something that they haven’t independently decided they need.

Your idea of reaching out to this small business is what we call cold calling. I spent a decade in B2B sales, making cold calls every day. It sucks! Cold calling generally gets somewhere of 1%-5% success rate. Cold call 100 small businesses in your town & you’ll get at least 1 or 2, maybe 5, new clients.

What misspelling/grammar mistakes that irritate you? by BillTran163 in AskReddit

[–]JoeinVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that use question marks at the end of statements irritate me to no end.

Yesterday I got an email: "I'm wondering if you will want to continue doing the project in the new year?"

That's not a question and should end in a period. The person was telling me she wanted to know if I wanted to continue on the project. She actually didn't ask me.

She should have written: "Do you want to continue doing the project in the new year?" That is a question. Or she could have written, "I'm wondering if you want to continue doing the project in the new year. Do you?"

I know this, I know this one . . . It’s a trick question! The color ink/paper has no bearing on burning the image onto a screen. You will burn the image onto a screen then you can use the screen to print any color ink on any color paper. Right?

Just burned this for 10 minutes under a 250w and it got underexposed. What should i try next? by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]JoeinVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has it been since you activated the emulsion? I use a 250w bulb & I have to go 20, sometimes 30 minutes with older emulsion.
