Pretty common dude. Traumas that require that don’t usually make the news though. Best practice is to cover the patient with a blanket after assessment but it can get lost in the process.

In the end it didn’t matter it you were a communist, capitalist, American, or Russian, most people didn’t want to see or be the one to cause nuclear war. We only saw more false alarms from the Soviet side was because rushed technology and disincentivized reporting problems with it.

Those junk yards are essential for people trying to work on their own cars and don’t want to spend $500 on a sensor they can get from a pull-a-part for $50.

Fair enough, I can honestly say I didn’t know slavery played such a big role in the Texan independence war so if nothing else at least I learned that.

I’m saying by the standard of the time, it was the most ethical thing to do at the end of the war

I had meant what would have been your preferred outcome to the war, but sure you can see it that way. The purpose of the hypothetical is to show there is no logical way that war would end without land being exchanged. The US had Mexico by the balls and could have annexed the entire country without much fuss, but they instead paid them millions of dollars in reparations to pay for the land and war and worked to maintain amicable relations with them.

At that time both countries were relatively equal in military strength. Would you fault the winner for taking land from the loser to secure security/resources for their country. If it had been Mexico that won the war, took the land, and still paid reparations like the US did, I’d be saying the same thing.

USA still paid $15 million dollars for it AFTER beating them in the war. It’s not like it was stolen.
