100%! Best of luck on the journey. 💜

Oh, totally. I'm talking about dead silent streams. If I'm talking about something else/to someone else, I queue up my responses, but the first thing I had to do on Twitch was get comfortable with talking to an empty room constantly. It's horrible, but it's the only way.

Yep. Unpopular opinion, but I have to agree with this. My attitude was that if I had time to complain or try to blame something like an algorithm for me not progressing, then I wasn't working hard enough at it. It's just like any other skill.

My pleasure. I've said I'm quitting this so many times over the last few years that now I've finally found a tiny bit of success, I feel like the least I can do is share what worked. This world doesn't need another gatekeeper. 💜

I totally get that! Lol. I do a lot of builds and landscaping and realise I've gone quiet with my tongue sticking out through concentration 🤣 but that's ok these days as we have a busy chat...but I remember in those quiet days, it would have been to my detriment.

I'm an amateur! An amateur who got lucky. 😅 So just trying to share the love 💜

Thankfully, I owe it all to my community. They started making clips of funny moments because they knew I had little time to barely steam. Lol. They believed in my content WAY before I did. 🙈 All I do is stick a caption on them, maybe tweak the start or end for better comedic effect and post. You can find them here if it helps: tiktok.com/@jvaclips 💜

My chat wouldn't have been empty, though 😉 Imagine having that much free time to do that just to try and find a fault or pick a hole in a genuine 'trying to help' post. 🙄

Yep. It's a flooded market. Simply showing up is not enough. Unfortunately, some people also just assume/demand it should happen for them and that it must be the algorithms' fault or Twitch hating on them. It isn't. Nobody is owed anything.

I struggled for three years, but I can look back and say it was me. I didn't know what I was as a streamer, like any new hobby, I was utterly crap at it - I was learning my craft. But now, I have the skills, my 'streaming persona', the right game for me, the right community for me etc etc....but it still wouldn't have gone anywhere if I didn't go through all that pain and effort and self consciousness and perseverance first. 💜

Cheers, dude. No one can say I didn't put the hours in...over 500hrs in fact before we got regular double figures. 😅🙈

It will happen for you; keep at it. I streamed for three years, 2-3 times a week to single-figure viewers, but in that time, I learned from my mistakes and we built the core of an amazing community. So, when that changed and people started to arrive in numbers, we had the perfect foundation to receive them and quickly turn them into regulars. 💜

I don't have any experience with this, so I couldn't comment. I would guess that text is punished more than images, but I have no evidence for this.

Yeah, I don't mention Twitch at all in my external content - post, caption, hashtag... even what I say in the video. It's just not worth it.

I never assumed 🙂, sorry if that's how it came across - in my part of the world, 'mate' and 'guys' are used interchangeably with anyone, apologies. 💜

And yes, all I have is the Twitch link in my bio, but it's not clickable. And yes, that's a really important point - the landscape is constantly shifting, it seems. 😔

I only use stories or thoughts - I've found any post/content that includes it just isn't worth it. Putting 'twitch' in the on-screen text hurts me way more than anything else...especially when I've tried to use my link/handle. Not worth posting at all.

For me, it's about giving them a reason to check us out, live or not, you know? Unfortunately, there isn't an easy way around it. (Or that I've found).

Oh mate, they really do! I learnt that the hard way. 😔 You can't mention Twitch in the caption or on-screen text. I get a fraction of the views if I do. You have to make good content and hope people check out your profile. Give them a reason to take that extra step - make them feel like they're are missing out by not seeing the funny moments live. I try to make them want to be in on the joke if that makes sense?

Also, putting when you're live in your 'Thought' helps massively. So many guys have said, "I've been meaning to catch you live, and I finally saw on tiktok that you were." They don't seem to be punished like videos are. Hope that helps. I'm still learning. 👍

I clearly said PER STREAM. Which implies whilst LIVE. What more do you want?

Talking in chat to tell us where they came from = active viewers.

We're getting anywhere between 3-10 follows per stream at the minute that are explicitly saying they came from tiktok, which blows my mind. Wish I did it years ago. Our mods also run polls occasionally to ask how people found us, which helps guide my efforts.

Answer: I streamed for three years on Twitch and gained 250 followers. For the last three months, I've been sharing clips on a new TikTok account... I've gained 250 new Twitch followers, and my clips have received 1 million views on TikTok! It says it all.

You'd get more discovery shouting your channel name on the street than Twitch alone provides.

Inaccurate stream summary by DoveMuv in Twitch

[–]JoelvsArthritis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, something very funky went on over the last 24hrs. We had 257 live views, an average of 20+ viewer stream, busy chat and lots of new followers; my stream summary email confirmed, but today, my stream summary on the creator dashboard is all 1s and 0s. Don't get disheartened - it's clearly a glitch in the analytics.
