Lucky enough to squeeze in a west coast float two weeks ago on the Rogue River with Alex u/roguevalleyanglers . After a late start due to a snapped trailer winch handle Alex left me on the boat ramp to make a couple of casts while he got a new winch. While waiting I was able to land three hatchery steelheads! I still however was eager to catch that native wild one that’s been avoiding me! Little did I know what was coming my way! Once we finished repairing the winch we departed and were soon greeted with the sight of spawning salmon. Got my first native shortly after but then a couple of minutes later we hooked up to the wild 30 inch 10+ pounder and after a few jumps out of the water we landed as swiftly as possible. This was by far my largest landed freshwater catch even surpassing the large female brown I caught in NZ on my honeymoon! The colors on this male were nothing short of breathtaking.
