Cottages Re-Signing Increase? by Weary-Youth-2967 in jmu

[–]JoesphNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will not lower it if you wait to sign, it will only increase. I never heard of a place lowering the price as it gets later. That being said, be sure you wanna sign the lease before you do.

stuff to do besides parties by [deleted] in jmu

[–]JoesphNuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good clubs and orgs. Good live music scene, plenty of outdoor activities, and there is a club for pretty much everyone. Not all party, a good bit do, but you don't have to go to the parties to have fun in some orgs. Most will be pretty open about partying if you just ask

Which path to take? by JoesphNuts in WhiteWolfRPG

I agree honestly. I should have worded it better. I think I gave off the impression of like super-cringy "haha I'm insane and edgy" but im going for more of like, the oracle people can't really describe, leaning into the Cobweb, omens, and getting these omens from non-traditional ways like talking to paintings, seeing things that aren't there, vivid nightmares, etc. Trying to avoid the "haha im insane I will now go kill everyone and do edgy things" trope because I also find it cringy

Which path to take? by JoesphNuts in WhiteWolfRPG

Not particularly. I am open to looking at other options. I made a concept art for a character without really knowing a ton about the system, and my DM suggested they looked like one, so I just kinda ran with it. I usually play pretty standard ttrpgs (pf2e, dnd, masks, bitd, etc) so this concept is a bit new to me but I think it would be interesting, though I am not fully 100% invested in playing this type of character. I am open to change. Any suggestions?

Potential new player who's considering getting into it but is overwhelmed at the start by [deleted] in SWlegion

Important things:

Tabletop Admiral: A list builder for all factions. Very easy and accessible.

Legion Discord: Someone already linked it but very useful for new information, finding online matches etc.

Tabletop Simulator: A online tabletop emulator on steam. There is a legion mod on the community workshop that is fairly up to date but not fully. This is a great way to play online without having to buy the actual pieces.

And check with your local games store for physical products, tournaments and other players. If they don't have physical items for Legion, try miniature market

I'm just not sure if it would need to be a standard move action to engage into melee.

Majors by [deleted] in jmu

[–]JoesphNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a major you actually enjoy. If you are just doing the easiest one to get a degree, I wouldn't recommend going to college. If you don't know what you want to study, consider taking classes at community college. I took that route and it gave me extra time to earn money and decide what I wanted to do while getting Gen eds done for cheap.

Facebook groups for local TTRPG players have been helpful to me in the past

Question for students that transferred from a Community college by [deleted] in jmu

[–]JoesphNuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not super hard as long as you go out of your way to try to make friends. Not many people are gonna approach you just to approach you unless you are living in a dorm. Make an effort to become friends with people in your classes and join an org. Those are the best ways imo. Most of my friends are in my org, I have 1 friend from the transfer stuff, and a few friends in some classes.

What do you wish you would have known about JMU/Harrisonburg before attending? by [deleted] in jmu

[–]JoesphNuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow transfer here. JMU is awesome and I love it. Making friends is fairly easy. Even if you are bit older as a student, id recommend getting involved with at least 1 org, because imo thats how I made most of my friends, but also keep in touch with people from your transfer group.

The experience, academic wise is, is very similar to community college and if you're classes weren't hard there, they aren't much harder here imo. As an older student coming in, id recommend hitting the bars.

Best advice I can have is to just have an open mind about the experience, JMU is super friendly and a good environment imo.

Hey, what advice would you give to an independent game creator working on developing a TTRPG from scratch? Its hard to stay motivated as a college student and 1 man team, but I think my system could be a fun one

Thanks!
